I called Mini USA and checked my order status. The customer representative told me that there was no summer shut down this year. The summer shut down mainly due to production line modifications for next year models. 2020 model was really short this year and 2021 model is already in. My order product plan was actually pushed to right one more week. I hope it doesn’t impact yours.

I finally got a solid update. Called the Mini help line and found out I’m scheduled for production to start in week 37. They thought that was the 2nd week of September. Not what I was hoping for but it’s good to have something more definitive. I would guess that gets me to delivery in November.

@Norbu72 That's weird! per spreadsheet, you ordered 10 days before I did and my car's build complete date is Sept 2nd ie, week 36. Also, there was a 3 week shut down (my MA confirmed it, and said it happens every year). Wonder why the guys answering the helpline is giving inaccurate info?

Noice!

What is her name?
After I told my wife I'd ordered the ELEKTRO license plate, she said I should have chosen ELEKTRA instead. In a CYA move, I showed her online that the ELECTRA plate was already taken. Regardless, she has decided our MINI Cooper's name is Elektra.

My Honda Insights wore the IGO ECO plate and I was going to choose ECOMINI before I saw Elektro used in a German ad for the SE.

Pretty.

I'm going to go with Jessie (Jessie the SE; get it?).

I checked my order status online today and it has been in production queue now. My VIN is online as well. Last week when I called, it was scheduled to week 37. So it got moved almost 2 weeks earlier. Mini probably wants to push more deliveries before end of Q3. So your order status may change. Fingers crossed

Thanks for the tip! I checked my status online after I read your post and I’ve switched to production begins!! I have a VIN too. Awesome.

FWIW, I just noticed 11 new SE’s are now up for sale at a mix of SoCal and AZ dealerships. No more waiting if you’re not picky.

meh, I expected to wait until October before I saw any movement on production, so anything at this point better than that is ahead of schedule :D

Movement!!! My status now shows 'Exterior Body Assembly Begins...'

...excellent...

That’s great news! Plus, I seem to be tracking right behind you so mine may change soon as well. I’ll keep close watch today.

It’ll be interesting to see how quickly the process moves forward for you now.

My car has arrived at the dealership! However, it needs to be "processed" and appears it's going to take a few days minimum. AAArgghhh! What's involved in the processing?! Hopefully, it doesn't include test drives...

The transporter brought my MINI Cooper SE from Baltimore to Ann Arbor late on Thursday, August 20th. I was rewarded for stalking the dealership by being able to sit in my new car before the dealership closed for the evening.

My SE arrived with only 2 miles of range left in the battery. The dealership didn't have a Level 2 EVSE or even a 240-Volt socket, so I couldn't bring in my spare Level 2 EVSE. On Friday they fiddled around with things like the tire-pressure sensors and didn't plug it in right away. The charging was so slow on their Level 1 charging cord (not mine) that the service department was closed for the weekend by the time the charging was complete. My dream wasn't realized until Monday morning.
