Donington has left Baltimore. ETA to Brunswick is 12/14. Looking promising for delivery before Xmas!

It’s possible!

When I was waiting on mine I looked over the spreadsheet and the average wait time for a car at Brunswick was 7 days. There wasn’t much info to go on (only about 10 Brunswick people completed the form) but the longest wait was 12 days, the shortest only 1. Most, though, we’re 5 to 9. Mine was exactly 7.

Jeez, that's giving me (very slim) hope on beating 12/31. Might be $3500 hanging in the balance...

Cutting it close, but possible! I have an SE Countryman so I have $5,002 potentially hanging in the balance (PHEV’s with gas tanks over 2.5 gal don’t qualify for any rebate under the current BBB proposal). I should be fine, it arrived to Galveston port on the 10th. Still nerve wracking though.

What's the latest on this? It hasn't passed the Senate yet, would it really take effect on Jan 1?

nobody knows for sure but since it’s a tax rebate, it would apply to a certain year. Even if passed in 2022, I’m pretty sure they could back date it to Jan 1, 2022 if they wanted. Or maybe they’d grandfather in some folks. Hard to say, really.

Here's the updated version released today, currently still in the Senate.

Page 509 covers the credit amount (unchanged from previous version, $4k base and $3.5k for 40kWh battery and <2.5gal

Page 528 has the relevant effective date

(paragraph 2 just covers making it refundable which takes effect one year later).

Note that there are other "effective dates" in the bill that are worded differently and are triggered relative to enactment of the bill, so it does seem like it'll be aligned to the calendar / tax year regardless of when it passes, if it passes.

Thanks for the info. Mine is for sure arriving in January, so there's no point in feeling anxious about it anymore, and I'm not cancelling because of the change in credit/rebate.

Just got an update on my pre-order (in 11/13) status from my local rep at Stevens Creek Mini, looking at Apr/May 2022..oh wow..haha

I thought I saw something in the news that the new bill would provide a tax credit only if the BEV was built by USA union labor.

There’s an extra boost if it’s USA union built, but plenty of others get a rebate too. I think it maxes at the current $7,500, with an extra $5,000 if built by USA union labor.

unfortunately the tax break gets weaker for any vehicles with a battery under 40 kWh (such as the mini SE). It’s only $4,000.

We ordered 11/8. Ours is in production now and scheduled to be complete 12/16. With shipping I still expect it in January. Call the dealer back and ask for your build number then call Mini and ask for the scheduled date. That does not sound right.

I suspect build schedules may be subject to allotment at specific dealers. My dealer is also Stevens Creek Mini in San Jose CA. I ordered September 8, and my build did not start until the week of Thanskgiving.

Stevens Creek does a high volume, so that may be a reason they are so late to start production. At this time, Stevens Creek has about 30 SEs incoming.....including mine.

I'd be interested in what h-dogg finds out.
