Right, & mashing the refresh button doesn't speed up the process either.
It's frustrating that the information to set our expectations better exists, but the combination of Mini's tracking & the shipping companies' tracking won't expose it to the public. It's almost like if Google Maps decided to not report your estimated time of arrival at all because they can't guarantee that there won't be a red light somewhere on your trip.
Communication is difficult….
But I totally feel ya. I don’t think anyone really actually knows when a car will be loaded onto a ship until it actually gets put on. My guess is that they just say hey, we have 100 cars that need to go to NYC, and they are not necessarily tracked by VIN until they are loaded onto the ship - there simply isn’t a need (theoretically?) for them to get that granular until they need to complete a shipping manifest.
I work in supply chain in automotive, and that’s how we do it. We just know we need to move 2 trailers of packaging back to a supplier today. We don’t know which of the various containers are going on what trailer until it is actually loaded. But we do know that they will get loaded and shipped back, probably on one of those 2.
Actual supply chain is pretty loosey-goosey. It’s a wonder that it works (worked?) so well for so long with so little actual data…
