Just to give people who are not good with working on cars support, this novice with his hands changed the transmission fluid in around 40 mins. If you go here on Amazon, and click other sellers, you can get 3 quarts for $34. Amazon says that it's not compatible with the Clarity, but it definitely is

Get some crush washers, a funnel with a 3' tube attached, and watch one of many YouTube videos on changing the Clarity's transmission fluid, and you'll be golden.

I waited until 75K miles and 8 years, which is probably way too long, as my old fluid demonstrates. The new one looks like that red soft drink that I drank as a kid:)- posted pic to be funny. Sorry that I didn't photograph the new fluid, and I gave the leftover to a friend .

My point is not to think this is overly difficult. It's similar to an oil change without a filter change. Old fluid is in pictures

Great! This is what I'm looking for. Thanks for your suggestion.

FYI: I had mentioned how Amazon says that my link was not to be used in the Clarity, which is dead wrong. IF you go to the fluid that they claim IS the one for the Clarity; it brings you to the wrong fluid. Wrong meaning not the OEM and recommended in my owner's manual fluid, which is the ATF DW-1.

Remember that if you go to "other sellers" on the amazon link, you can save a few bucks and actually get it faster. You want 3 liters (you will use a little under 2.5l), which is what my link brings you to. (When I say my link, I dont have any business deal or anything like that, I mean my link as in I found and pasted it here:).)

I hope that the "recommended" fluid doesnt have disasterous results when used in the Clarity; because I am sure that someone, somewhere will end up buying it from Amazon and using it.

Let us know how it goes for you, and how long it ends up taking you. I found it actually easier than an oil change, and it took around 40 minutes, not counting the time to watch the instructional videos, buy the fluid, organize the correct tools, etc. I recommend watching at least 2 videos made on actual Claritys. I watched 3 different videos, which made me confident enough to do the work.

I ended up changing the trans fluid in my wife's Ford Escape the following day, now that I am an "expert" in changing transmission fluid:) Of course, I watched a bunch of youtube videos on the Escape beforehand, like I did with the Clarity.
