Can't delete personal data like phone

So I'm stuck - I'm trying to remove an iPhone that was paired to my MINI and the menu option to delete the phone isn't working.

So Googling around, I see that many people had to delete everything, and the steps according to the manual are:

1. Go to My MINI
2. System settings
3. Data privacy
4. Delete personal data
5. Delete personal data (again)
6. select "OK".
7. Exit and lock vehicle.

Then wait for 15 minutes.

I've done this several times now and nothing seems to happen. In fact, when I do step 6, "select OK", it's like it doesn't even register that I've selected OK at all. The menu is highlighted, it dims/brightens when I depress the selection wheel, but nothing indicates that it is going to start any sort of process at all.

Anyone else ran into this problem? Is this something that can only be accomplished at the dealer?

At this point, I'm thinking I just want to power-cycle the whole computer but I don't know how that's possible at all.

You should be able to remove specific mobile devices like this in the Central Information Display:

1. Go to "My MINI"
2. Select "System settings"
3. Select "Mobile devices"
4. Select device.
5. "Delete device"

Yep. Tired that. It removed one of the 2 old users no problem at all, but when I’m trying to delete the one that’s left, nothing is happening. So weird.

Hrm. That definitely doesn't seem right. Maybe take it to your local MINI dealership to see if they can wipe it clean for you? They must have the right tools to do it, since they are probably required to reset any used car they sell.

I wonder if the secret menu has a way to wipe the infotainment system (you need to select unlock from the menu and I think enter sum of last five digits of VIN to get extra options, which if I remember correctly might be in German).
