I have a 2020 SE with 13k miles that was just serviced 3 weeks ago. The service center did the battery cover recall, flushed the brake system and rotated the tires. Yesterday on a random basis I get the message: “Brake System Contin. driving possible”. Has anyone else seen this error message. The message goes away when the car is restarted but will pop up randomly but not every time we drive the car. Braking seems normal but I mostly use regen braking.

I have a same messages on brake system and dealer reset and for a week was ok but than I have a X-mas lights on dashboard second visit to dealer they replaced brake sensor on a right rear with broken tinny wire and is ok now $185 later is a pic.

and part number if you handy you replace yourself saving at list$120 I argue with dealer warranty didn’t cover 2022 SE 10000 miles

Thanks for the info.

Sorry late answering this but you can reset the light with the button on the top left of the gauge cluster.

Turn the car on without pressing the brake pedal
Wait for the light to go out that has the alert
Hold the button down for about 10 seconds, you'll get into the service reset menu. Quick press cycles through the options, long hold is the "ok."

My car also had a flaky wear sensor (right rear) actually having it replaced under warranty as I type this.

Thank you so much for this picture! I had a hard time finding the correct part number. I just ordered this for mine.

Here we are 2 years later almost to the day and I still have this random “Brake System Contin. driving possible” message on my 2020 Mini SE. The warning pops up almost daily for a while and then will go quiet for a couple of days.

I have had the both the front and back brake wear sensors replaced. The brake wear sensor wiring was inspected and found to be intact. The brake pads were inspected and were found to have little wear given the use of regenerative braking. It sometimes feels like it is triggered by acceleration or deceleration so I confirmed the brake fluid level is topped off. Other times it will trigger just after rolling from a parked position liked the system is going through some initialization sequence and finding the fault then.

I pulled one code related to brakes but not sure it’s related D3549F - Signal error(data brake system motor control). The code shows up randomly not necessarily related to the warning message.

The car still drives beautifully with only 17k miles on it.

Any thoughts or help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Dunno if relevant, but last August I was receiving random warnings under similar conditions you mention (2022 SE). I don't see a mention of the wheel speed sensor.

I was getting random stability or ABS warnings on bumps or hard acceleration/deceleration, more sensitive turning right or in reverse. The dealer instrumented the Mini, and found the passenger side front speed sensor signal was going out of spec now and then. They replaced the degraded sensor/pigtail and I have not had a reoccurrence.

I think it was damaged when debris kicked up on a sharp off camber right turn at a bumpy construction site.

With all the labor, that ended up being a $700 US repair.

Thanks for following up on this persistent issue.

I only see a brake warning so it may be related to the ABS, so I’ll take a look at the speed sensor. I never have received any stability control error messages.

One of the early responses to my first post was the thought of low brake fluid. It almost seems like the accel/decel moves a liquid away from a sensor enough to trigger an error, but I’m not sure if low brake fluid would trigger this same error.

Other research suggested the possibility of a low 12v battery causing extraneous errors to pop up. I’m still on the original battery and given the low duty cycle of vehicle use I thought it worthwhile to check out. I put a monitor on the battery and found that the battery is in good shape, sitting at around 12.7v after not driving for a couple of days. The battery rises to ~14.3v when on and charges fully. I do notice a drop to 12.1v for less than 5 secs when I first open the door before charging is initiated from the traction battery.

I had the same low brake fluid suggestion, but mine was fine. Tech spent some time finding the issue as most of the time the speed sensor tested fine, once in a while it didn't.

I suspect a broken wire in the fragile pigtail that made good enough contact most of the time, and broke some times when under stress .
