BC Hydro stations

My point only is there are a super abundance of L3 fast chargers in the Lower Mainland, and lots all around BC. You have no reason to have range anxiety. Penticton is not that far, and lots along the route. There are 6 with many stations each just in Hope, and dozens more the next 100 kms towards Vancouver. Abbotsford has 14. Like I said use Plug Share and look at the comments to be sure they are working.

Anyone else receive the rate increase e-mail?
"To support the long-term stability and operations of our EV charging network, our rates will be updated starting April 1, 2026:

Fast charging (labelled 25 kW or higher) $0.3969 per kWh"



An increase of $0.036 per kWh from the $0.03609 previous, basically 10% for L3 charging.
I guess they have to recover some of their costs with the recent upgrades to equipment.

"For most drivers, this represents an increase of approximately $0.84 per session for an average passenger vehicle, and about $1.68 per session to an average pickup truck."

Yes, disappointingly corporate BS. They've got the whole bundle of wholesale and retail profit. I'm guessing they clear $030 per kWh.

Unlike a gas station, there is no labour cost apart from very occasional maintenance.

A lot of the cost of the installations is covered by government grants.

There's an inequity with the supply of electricity. If you don't have access to residential power, you get mugged by the operators of public charging stations.
