You recognize that they haven't figured out the dry film process on a large scale yet. It's not complete. There's no telling how long it will take for them to figure that out. Let alone incorporating that into the newer factory. There are more unknowns than known. It could take them a whole additional year to figure that out in addition to everything else they are doing.

No, I'm fine. I just don't expect it in 3 years. It doesn't anger me or make me impatient. It's just that the nature of the seem like it may take longer than 3 years because they are doing a lot at once and Tesla has a history of being late on promises. No big deal. @SD yes power wall is way, way better. Only like V2G if it enabled VPP to get rid of NG quicker. But would still like power wall to make it possible to use the car's batteries as an extension of power wall in a black out. Drew still said V2G is coming later. Just going in the direction of providing a little charge to an another EV that needs it in a pinch or powering tools is going that way. But I don't like V2G because it feels like going in the opposite direction of cutting the cord on the utilities.



As for the above bit about not being able to get the cells out if they fail. That has to be a non issue. With 1000x+ cells per vehicle a couple of cells going isn't an issue. And they can add auxillary cells to cover anticipated fails they don't catch at manufacture.



Bob Galyen noted tabless had been a way back early battery pattent application. Seems super conductors (Maxwell always used tab-less so what was the advantage of the tab- seems Jordan said internal fail safe like a fuse in a consumer cell that couldn't have external fail safes.)



Bob also said million miles or millions of milles is a function of depth of cycling relative to charge capacity because even lead acids would go millions of miles if the charge discharge cycles were super shallow relative to charge capacity. So get the total charge capacity up to lengthen battery life.



I don't believe they will be late on 4680. I think we will see them late next year or in about 12 months for some very good reasons. Any later will delay Cybertruck and delay the semi a 2nd time. Musk gave us not only a time line but specifically told us what the bottle neck was and layed out the distance in revision increments and the rate of increments. That is a lot of precision. Musk has to hit time guidelines to steady the stock valuation and increase it to continue to unlock his tranches which will be important for keeping control of the firm while unlocking capital access especially with that damn simple majority vote the fossil fuel shill investors keep pushing to scuttle the firm. And he has to keep thinks level and profitable for S&P inclusion but he can't Osborn it either.

Whoops. I just realized that I missed a word in the title to the thread. It's supposed to have 'Side Note' after Day. Obviously the entirety of battery day wasn't about V2G; V2G was just an audience question at the end.

As for V2G, I was pretty excited about the concept ears ago, but needing thousands more $$$ for additional equipment isn't an attractive option. Still, I'd like to see cars capable of V2X. This way, one could get a boost from others if needed, or supply energy to an off-grid cabin, etc.

Thanks for that! I get why people get excited about the concept, but its not scalable. Sure some people may chose to do it, but participation will always be low. Its going to be more like a hobby thing, which isn't a problem.
