IMG_1771.webp Just for discussion. As I own SE for 3 years and meet my driving patterns also own Subaru Forester like new 30000 miles is any reason I should go for Soltera I can get for $23000 with 3000 miles siting in dealer lot for 200 days with all warranties. My SE I paid $ 30000 and I can sell to Carvana for $ 20000 as Soltera a premium was $44000 in2023 is any reason I should go ahead to make this transaction.Soltera range 218 miles SE 114 miles and I’m not attached to any brand of my cars . Just as I’m cheap want the best deal for my money as I paid cash for every car I own .I can’t find so much on Soltera forum but sound like they good cars and in my age maybe is good idea to put myself into 4600 lbs car compering SE 3150 lbs .Any reasonable arguments here ? As we know all our EV after 2-3 years are 1/2 a price as we like them for different reason . Thanks for good advice. On top of this Subaru Forester and Soltera they are ugly cars but dependable! As Mini Cooper SE is a gem since 1965 and I have all good responses from every kind of people on any parking lots as my car is spurs up with my design View attachment 23870

Rexio, we love you--we don't want to go to some Solterra forum to see you! What do you need a Solterra to do that your SE can't? Your friends will see your Solterra (they don't know about your Forester) and ask you to help them move and you'll hurt your back. We know you love your SE! What a drag it would be to drive a Solterra after your i3 and SE!

I had a Solterra on order, but during the first recall (pre-release), ordered my SE, and then purchased my SE when it arrived first. I don't know the specs of the current model year Solterra, but the original (IIRC) had an advertised maximum DCFC charging rate of 100 kW. On some of the solterra forums, a lot of folks haven't seen better than 40 kW. One user said that he'd seen 68 kW at best only one time. (Another user said that due to the abysmal charging curve it took 2-3 hours to got from 20% to 80% with DCFC.) Additionally, I believe that I read somewhere that only 2-3 DCFC charging sessions are permitted per day. There is no rear window wiper. The Solterra has been described as a compliance car.

That said, you should be able to get a fantastic deal on a Solterra. But would you really have as much fun in one, as compared to your electric MINI Cooper?

To me, a Solterra is only slightly better than a Tesla. I'd drive a Solterra around a city if someone gave it to me. But if someone gave me a Tesla, I wouldn't even drive it.
