I'm guessing that you bought the car remotely and haven't actually laid hands on it yet?Speaking of trunks, does anyone know what this item is for? (See photo)
We purchased a 2022 SE with only 7.3 miles in amazing condition this is attached Velcro to the floor in the under trunk storage next to Fix a flat kit?
We purchased the vehicle used from a local dealership. It came with the Level 1 Mini charger and all other components as well. This box is nowhere in the manual and it also does not have any leads or ports only a single rubberized button? It has slots and loops for mounting into something permanently but no marking minus a QR code which does work due to the decal printing off the edge. It feel about the wait as if it is filled with something dense like a pack of batteries which lead me to think it might be dealer tracker but I would think that would be smaller.I'm guessing that you bought the car remotely and haven't actually laid hands on it yet?
Anyway, you seem to have gotten lucky and have received (will be receiving) two chargers! The yellow cabled one is the BMW/MINI-provided level 1-only that came with SEs originally. According to Google Lens, though, the item you have circled is a level 1/2 charger:
"The circled object is an electric vehicle charging controller or portable charger box, likely manufactured by Delphi/Aptiv.
Item Type: Portable EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) controller box.
Function: Manages the electrical current flow from the power source to the vehicle during charging.
Compatibility: Commonly used with various plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, including BMW and MINI models.
Features: Typically supports Level 1 or Level 2 charging depending on the specific adapter cables used."
The switch from the original level 1-only to the level 1/2 charger happened sometime in 2022, with some cars receiving both. My 2023 (US model year) was built in May of 2022 - although a 2022 model (in the UK??), perhaps your new car was built later? Or, perhaps I just got unlucky, or perhaps there were market differences in how they distributed chargers?
In any case, congratulations! (Assuming Google Lens is right.)
