2018 Clarity EV Range Degredation @ 1k miles?

On mine, I don’t have to switch off the HV on downhills. It automatically stops the ICE every time it regens. I just wish it would renter Engine Drive Mode quicker after the regen is over.
Perhaps it's just perception on my part, but switching off HV allowed me to choose when to re-engage the ICE, keeping it from kicking in when not needed on he descent.

Try waiting a little longer next time. It may not help, but then again you may be manually turning off the ICE only a few seconds before the controller in the car would have done so. Frankly, I find the algorithm that controls the various drive modes to be mysterious. It engages direct drive when I wouldn't have predicted, and then abandons it when it seems most reasonable. Same with turning off the ICE at odd times. Then again I'm the kind of guy who would be driving a manual transmission if that were an option.

Well, yeah, that’s the crux of it. The entertainment value of flipping switches and flapping paddles and watching the dash light up is more gratifying than just letting the HAL-9000 do all the work for me!
