2017 Bolt EV tapping noise

The "Tapping" / Rapid Clicking sound (after unlocking the driver's door (not sure if it does this on the other doors, as there's just me), low speeds (stops when pressing the Brake pedal) and after turning the car Off), IS NOT limited to the 2017 Bolt.

My 2020 Premier started this last Friday. And, today, was the earliest that I was able to get an appointment with my local dealership (had an online Appointment for Wed morning, but I got a text saying that the online system is messed up, and the earliest was Thursday at 09:00  ).

Sadly, though not unexpected, the Diagnostics check turned up, zilch! And, the tech had 0 experience with this happening. :(

But fortunately, the dealership's Service Department is connected to other dealership service departments. And, within about 20 minutes, :) , the problem per Service Bulletin 20-NA-170, Program Brake Booster Cont ROL Module, was fixed. :):)

Its the Bosch Brake Booster malfunctioning. IN the BOLT is a software fix. Take it to your dealer as it should be covered under warranty. Same issue with my Volt. In the Volt you have to replace the part for some reason. Cost was $2100 but my extended warranty covered it after a bit of wrangling with them on my part. INfo came from a VOLT tech so I believe him. Not an uncommon issue but much less hassle in the Bolt than in the Volt.

We purchased our 2017 Bolt EV in early June 2017 and now have about 5000 miles on it. So far, we've been very pleased with the car. However, a few months ago, the car started to make a rapid tapping sound when the door is opened and the car started. At first, the sound was very intermittent and went away with a brief tap on the brake pedal. Now it's more frequent and some times comes on even while driving, then goes away. I could easily trace the sound to the brake master cylinder.

We took the car to a Chevy dealer who confirmed that the sound was not normal. They could not determine what the cause was, so they recorded the sound and contacted GM. The latest from GM is that they will be sending out a part called an "I Brake". Neither the service guy at our local Chevy dealer, nor the certified Bolt technician have heard of such a part, and I couldn't find anything online to identify the part either.

If anyone in Boltsville has had a similar issue, or knows what an I Brake is, I would appreciate you sharing this with the group and myself.
I have a 2020 that does the same thing. Going to the dealer thus morn. Will post results!

When I hear a ticking sound, I turn the radio up. Works every time to rid me of the noise. Last time I heard one, it was a stone stuck in a tire.

Easy software fix
