So quiet. Did everyone get what they wanted or just give up?

I’ve been negotiating a settlement with my dealership.

Won’t be getting a 2018, so I’m just making sure I won’t be worse off if rebate reduced/cancelled. However, there is zero chance a 2018 comes through for me.

Expected agreement will save both sides from potentially having to take the issue to court.

The Touring are coming in from all the reports. I really wonder what's going on in Japan as I thought they will just make enough Touring to fill all or most of the current order. And of course there is that mysterious Base 606 from Chris Messer that make no sense at all..

Yes would like to know what the end result of the negotiations are. I'm going to be meeting my dealer soon to discuss this exact same thing.

Free upgrade to Touring but legally obligated to keep their mouth shut and tell us they gave him a Honda baseball cap as compensation when he paid the 4K upgrade fee.
    We may never hear.

My dealer so far has said that no Touring available for me even if they wanted to give it to me.

Start calling around in Quebec. Those guys seem to have the inside scoop on these. One guy asked about getting one in may and they already have it, done deal this week I think.

I bought one from L'Ami Honda in Rouyn Noranda. They are shipping it to me in Toronto on a flatbed truck. From the time I saw the ad on Autotrader until arrival in Toronto will be ~2 weeks. I had to pay for Touring and white paint and a block heater, as well as for the trucking. But I will have a car. :)

I guess you got their new one. The demo one they had listed with 4K km probably could not get the Ontario rebate as the dealer has to keep a log of every drive after 2K km..

A bunch of new Tourings are starting to appear on dealer sites.

It is their new one. I was attracted to the price on the demo, but it had 4K, which is more than double the allowable mileage for the rebate.
But buying from Quebec wasn't that hard.

Never thought of a block heater on this, I guess I figured it was not needed.

How much did the flatbed cost?

I feel like almost no one bought a base model.....haven't heard of anyone here getting one in Ontario for months.

I guess the mythical base model does exist as Maple Honda now has two Base models (638/639) and two Touring models (655/658) listed.

My saga ended yesterday when I picked up a white touring from Quebec (Montmagny) (serial number 228).

I had ordered a green touring in Ottawa in the middle of April. I switched to a white in early May when I was told I was highly unlikely to get a green one in 2018. While I was assured my white touring had been allocated by Honda and I would definitely receive one (likely in July), I decided to explore the Quebec option as I still had not been given a VIN. Approx 2 weeks ago I started negotiating with Montmagny for their white touring. Things went well and I picked up the car yesterday!

For anyone in Ontario, considering buying a car from Quebec, I can confirm it is a pretty easy process. I paid the 5% federal tax when I picked up the car and was given a 10 day paper permit along with the New Vehicle Information Sheet. I went to a Service Ontario office this morning and provided them with the NVIS, Bill of Sale and just paid the 8% PST, plate and registration fees and walked out with my registration and Green plates.

So, I don't think there is any reason to hesitate buying a car from Quebec. I also confirmed (before putting down my deposit in Quebec) with the Ontario EVIP folks that there is no issue whatsoever with getting the $13k incentive from Ontario with a car purchased in QC. All that matters is that the car has never been registered before and that you submit all the required receipts, paperwork, etc. just as if you had purchased it in Ontario.

BTW, driving from Quebec City to Ottawa in HV mode resulted in 5.4 l/100 km efficiency which I'm very happy with. I plugged the car in overnight (regular 120 V as my Level 2 charger won't be installed until Tuesday) and have been driving in pure EV mode all day!!

Finally, note that while searching for a car in Quebec, I was told by a dealership in Montreal that they wouldn't sell a car to an Ontario purchaser because there is sufficient demand in Quebec for the vehicles. So, if you talk with a dealer, I suggest you ask them this question right off the bat to avoid wasting time.

    Cheers and good luck,
    Gary

Likely customer orders just passing thru their inventory system. If you call to find out let us know.

that would involve me clicking buttons on a phone and talking to a real person and that feels like a show stopper right now. Hand me another beer.
