  3. My wife has been making good use of the free RBC/Petro-Canada charging deal at the Langley location. But unfortunately there is a nearby Starbucks there that she can't resist, so my savings are being cut...:(

  4. I could have probably bought an outlet for what I have spent there over the years;)

Don't trust their app for working stations. I got to Sault Ste Marie charger at 3am last week and both chargers down. Checked plugshare and they have been down for awhile.
Oh and their EV phone support line doesn't work from 8pm till 8am.

  6. I have seen up to 77kw when the battery is warm an all the other conditions are right.
EA got their pricing straitened out. Kona is now in tier 1. Tier 1 goes up to 90kw now. Not sure about pricing in CA at Electrify. Canada.

  8. Has the free Petro-Canada charging ended now? Doesn't affect me now, but just curious.

It said it was on Apr 30 but I haven't checked lately, the one closest to me has been down for over a month. And another one up north, I really wanted to use as I want to go trout fishing has been down for almost a month also.
I enjoyed the last year but their not dependable at all, imo.

  10. annoyingly any time I've tried a Petro Canada charger, all the stations have been out of service. seems to be a trend with whatever units they deployed.

  11. I do most of my charging at home, but I have used chargers on different networks last summer. They all can be out of order. Some more often than others. Overall a find Petro-Canada and Electrify Canada are the most reliable and the easiest to use. Work like gas stations. No need to get a membership account and carry pre-loaded cards!
    Maybe it is my luck?

  13. Just the opposite experience. EC is the least reliable and PC is the second least reliable. Flo is slow but always goes.

  14. I would have to say I'm also underwhelmed by the Petro Canada charging network. We were left high and dry by some non-functioning stations that the app didn't know about. In our calls to tech support it became clear that PC contracted the whole thing out and seems to have very little to do with it besides hosting and putting their branding on the chargers. I'm all for charging infrastructure in as many forms as we can get it. This one does seem a little greenwash-y though.

I find the stations in both Regina and Whitewood very slow

  16. Nanaimo Petro Canada has been completely out of service for months and usually one was dead before that, very poor "electric Highway"

I emailed them about it and all I got back was the phone number for the EV department.... :(

  17. We just went to charge at the Swift Current chargers. The app said they were all online but when we arrived only one would work. The other did not accept payment through the app or credit card. I sure hope their "Electric Highway" is at least getting them good press among non-ev folks...at this rate that seems to be all they are shooting for.

  18. They don't require any maintenance - at least according to Petro Canada

  19. My local ones sometimes had one down, or a card reader not working (but could start it with the phone app), so most times I was able to charge without waiting. Also, at times, it didn't even ask for your card, just went straight to the phone screen and started charging. So it was free for everyone. As I don't have my Kona anymore, can't go test it to see if they are still free. Was good for me while it lasted...

  20. I got a chance to use several DC chargers with my Ioniq 5 recently and Petro Can chargers in Saskatchewan and Manitoba are mostly sad. If you got them to work they would charge unexplainably slow. Would arrive at a 200 or 350 kW petrocan charger with low SOC and 20+C battery and be lucky if I would get maybe 80kWh which would quickly throttle to 40 kWh. Keeping in mind depending on SOC the I5 can charge up to 226kWh with 25C or warmer battery. I knew it was the charger because I would go across the street to a CO OP 100 kW charger and immediately pull 90+ kWh for most of the charge.

The amount of DC fast chargers that have been down for months is terrible.
Personally I have seen the co-op in Whitewood.
Did they not get a grant from the government of Canada?
When they got this grant there should be a clause stating the stations should be good working order.

The one co-op DC fast charger station in Harbour Landing in Regina says right on the screen, "Due to our power management system your vehicle may be charging at a slower rate, however, you will still receive a full charge". I got < 40 out of 100kw... Still charging $18.85 per hour

  23. This thread terrifies me for my upcoming cross Canada trip! I'll be checking plugshare judiciously!
