Your wife needs her own credentials on her phone. You need to invite her using the HL app.
From the App, Vehicle->Manage Drivers->Invite driver. I can't remember the exact procedure after that but I believe she will receive an email and then she will register herself so she can be attached to the car (or the account), then she can use the app on her phone

Nope, please re-read the thread. She was "invited" by me, got the email, accepted it, ( I am the primary user)I tested her credentials on my phone and they work!

We have had our Clarity Plug-In Hybrid since August and have 12,000 miles on it including a trip across the country. For us, the HondaLink app has been of limited usefulness. What has been much more useful is the PlugShare app, which enabled us to find motels with free plug-ins all across the country. Most useful is Apple CarPlay for entertainment and its excellent navigation interface. CarPlay switches easily between our different phones and does not need a new model iPhone to work nicely.

We use Apple CarPlay running on an iPhone 5c and at other times on an iPhone SE and and the currently available iOS on each. Apple Maps works very nicely with a great user interface and current traffic updates. It is good to know that these other navigation apps will work on the latest devices, if not on CarPlay our older phones. Audible and iTunes both work well for us. Phone calls and texts also work, but we don't use them when driving.

Did you test before or after they failed to work on her phone? You don't suppose that credentials are keyed to a given phone and by testing you got them attached to yours?

I find the HondaLink app to be useful but temperamental.

I got this to work by going to Vehicle then Manage Drivers then Invite Driver in my primary HL and then it sends an email to the secondary driver and they just follow the instructions. You can add more than one too. You can’t do it from your wife’s phone directly without going through this. Is this what failed to work for you?
Whoops my bad. Just read it more carefully. Doing every thing right, you are now unfortunately at the mercy of Honda tech support. Hope you do better than the old Roman gladiators...”Abandon all hope, he who enter”

Tomorrow is EIGHT WEEKS . . . and I figured it out on my own. Here goes: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Wireless Settings. Phone reboots and reloads the default/factory wireless protocols (annoyingly, yes you will lose all WiFi passwords). Works fine now. I had this bumped to a VICE PRESIDENT at Honda (by playing the LinkedIn connection game).

I was able to invite my wife and she has access now. The process was a bit confusing for me but it ultimately worked. Maybe delete the app, reboot the HU, reinstall app and try again?

So you got to a Honda Vice President, but he hadn't had read enough to tell you to reboot the wireless settings?

Yes of course, the app works only on your phone or your iPad the settings are available on your phone your iPad or your iPod touch.

It was not clear from your post whether you were talking about settings on the Clarity panel or settings on your phone. I did not recognize the path you outlined since your phone is different from my phone, and I have not memorized the path on the Clarity system. That's why I was asking. It is now clear to me that the issue had nothing to do with HondaLink.

Homdalink runs off of an app for both iPhone and android the Honda “car portion” and “website portion” and “service portion” is called HondaLink the app itself is also branded Hondalink they are one system.

Can Honda Link lock the car? Or tell me whether I forgot to lock it? Seems it would be a nice and simple feature and I don’t see that it does this?

Honda has made the decision to stay away from remote features that involve security like door lock or unlock.

No, but you can use the auto lock on walk away to never have to touch the keys

Hmmm. Thanks. I hate autolock cuz it locks the car in my own garage which annoys the snot outta me, and most places I park I have no need to lock the car. So I have disabled it. But I want the feature on HondaLink.

Dear Honda: Give customers the choice. It is nearly free, simple programming. And it will get you more sales. GM does it...might consider them instead of Honda for future car....

    Incentive enough?
