If I'm going to someday own an EV in the form of a mid sized SUV, not large, not small, then it needs to be 300 miles plus as we do plenty of cross region and/or country trips. So for us it is more than a number, it's a necessity. Plus my time is worth more than having to worry about it every 215 miles. But the charging infrastructure and everything that has been written is my main hold back of taking the plunge. We've all heard that recent study about that trip from I believe it was San Diego (or L.A) to San Francisco where 23% of the chargers did not work/work well.

I’ll be renting an EV in a few weeks in Europe on vacation. I’ll see how “long distances” go but no for 99% of daily driving you don’t need mondo range. All you are doing is hauling around useless weight…. However not everyone needs are the same and some commutes I’ve read on here are insane…

Hell, my brother in law used to commute 105 km each way from downtown Hamilton to Markham and back every weekday. Along with gas, he had to pay around $1500 for the 407 every month from the QEW to the 404. To people in “smaller” or “more normal” big cities, stuff like that doesn’t even compute!

i lived off island for a few years. Never ever ever ever again. I like being back in the city. Minimal traffic westbound and nothing crazy eastbound. I leave at 5pm and I’m home in 45 mins easily
