I mailed in my check and form about 2 weeks ago. How long have others in California waited to get their HOV stickers?
I probably sent around the same time. $22 check has not cleared my bank yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had mine within 3 weeks of mailing in the paperwork and check. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
I sent in my application on Jan 28, and the check cleared on Mar 2. The certificate also says Mar 2 on it. I can't remember when the stickers actually arrived, but it must have been shortly after Mar 2.
We had to wait for 4 to 5 weeks as well. Looks like they processed them in batch. Once the check is cleared, you’ll get them in a week. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Sent in application 8/3/18, cashed 8/16/18, and received stickers 8/21/18. So I would think any day now.
Hey, I just bought a new Clarity PHEV in socal and it didnt come with stickers for HOV already on it. So when I went to see how to apply, it seems like it might be a good idea to wait. If I apply this year I would get red stickers and be able to use them in the carpool lane until Jan 1 2022. This would be 3 years and 3 months roughly. However if I wait the 3 months and get them after January 1 2019 the website says they would be good until Jan 1 2023 which is 4 years. What do you guys think? Is that a good idea? Does the state run out of stickers? Would there be any reason not to wait? Seems like it makes sense to wait 3 months to get an extra year out of it. Here is the link to the info on the CA arb website https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/carpool/carpool.htm
I am in the same boat as you. I actually sold my car with GREEN STICKERS and purchased a new clarity. I learned about this idea of waiting in a similar form and I am going to power three the final 3 months and apply January 1st. I am assuming there will be a new color sticker which expires in 2023 (other than Red Sticker). But to get 4 years instead of 3 years and 3 months sounds like a good trade off.
I just called my dealer and they said they already ordered the stickers for all the clarity's on their lot so I'm out of luck with waiting to get the extra year. best of luck to you though
Aside from using the diamond lane in on-ramps to jump the lines, most of the time there's no real benefit to a sticker these days. Once you're on the freeway, every lane is jammed just as badly as the one next to it.
Diamond Lane saved me 2 hours today. If you commute in a high traffic area, it can literally save you 10 hours a week.
I had to apply myself; I waited until I had plates because the license number was one of the questions on the app, as I recall. When I got them, the red stickers expired at the end of this year. Without having to do anything I got the extension to 2022, I just got an updated doc from DMV in the mail. I assume that if the program is extended further and the Clarity is still eligible, that I'd get that extension as well. And, I don't have a commute. ;-) But I'm in commute traffic every so often, so the $22 application fee was a no brainer.
I've been putting off applying for the HOV sticker even though I purchased the car in January. Nice to see that my procrastination may pay off! I've only had two occasions so far where having the sticker would have helped, but most of the time I have other people in the car with me so I can use the HOV lane the "normal" way.
@leehinde It's the notice that OP posted that registrations placed after Jan 1, 2019 will be good till Jan 1, 2023, rather than 2022 for registrations done this year.
