Ah. I assumed I'd just magically get another update. :)

Do you think they will change the color of the carpool sticker next year? If not I dont see the point of waiting 3 months to get the extra year of hov driving as you would already have the same sticker as newer owners. If they change the color then your screwed.

They might very well just extend the red sticker through 2023. Butt they also may create yet another color (blue, anyone?)

Impossible to predict. I for one am going to wait.

I think it has to be a new color. That would make the most sense, but then again, we are really all taking educated guesses. but im with you...let's wait!

Hi Clarity's Californian owner, any ideal of how long does it takes to get a CA HOV decal (Red one). I submitted the DMV application along with a fee's check since Nov 1st 2018 (bought new in early October), but heard nothing and the check hasn't cashed yet.

I'm almost there :) Thanks. Typical Cali's DMV they're worst than USPS

It's too bad that these stickers, like registration stickers, can't be purchased at AAA for those with memberships.
I suspect that with DMV ramping up for the new Purple stickers (1/19) that takes three of the four people dealing with all the stickers off the line.

Does anyone know if I can get rebate now but apply for red stickers later?

My commute is short but my wife's commute will be long sometime next year end. So I am going to apply for decal in 2021 Jan, to allow HOV access until Jan 1st 2025 as per new rules.

I think you’d be taking a big chance by waiting until 2021 to apply. Auto eligibility changes by year and I don’t know if a 2018 model year car will still qualify for stickers in 2021.

IIRC even a qualifying used car that never had a sticker previously issued can get one. At least currently.

It took about 2-months to get mine. Funny thing is they didn’t cash the check the whole time. Then I see the check get cashed and two days later the stickers show up in the mail.

If it takes 2 months to receive...does that mean if you apply for HOV stickers NOW you will get the purple stickers? Trying to make sure to get purple stickers while at same time minimizing the wait. :)

I saw a So Cal dealer with new Clarity PHEVs on lot with the new red HOV stickers already on the cars.

Is this something the dealer can expedite thru their DMV access ?

Does anybody know what this is about? I saw it this morning and wondered if the DMV was doing something different.

Ha, looks like the VW owner was impatient waiting for the stickers.
He must have printed out on his computer.

If I had to guess either they got impatient waiting, or they received their stickers but don’t want to apply them to their car and they think this will somehow circumvent that. I have my doubts.

I know that’s something Toyota was able to do at one time. In my case, my wife worked for Toyota Financial before they moved to Texas. When she took advantage of their employee lease program, the stickers were applied the day she picked up the car. No waiting. I’d guess it’s entirely possible that Honda may have that ability now too, but I don’t know for sure.

I don't know the new rules are (for 2019>) but current rules ties the HOV stickers to CA State rebates, and if the dealership did that, they may screw up who actually buys that car.

    That's scary!
I wonder if the dealer took the $1500 state rebate ???
