    My nearby dealer literally laughed when I told him the online quote, and said there was no way he could get even close to that amount.

    I got mine from Hyannis about 2 weeks ago (additional 5 year, 80k (so 8yr, 80k), $0 deductible) right before I hit 3 years (19k miles). It came to slightly more than $1,000.

    I will note that I don't recall having an 80k mile option when it was new, only 100k and 120k

    An added benefit of the extended warranty is that it is transferable to the new owner when you sell the car, so it will increase your resale value even if you never need to use it.
