You need a device like this one, since our MINI system is basically an old BMW you just need an NBT compatible system. Spoiler: More info This exact company changed the model to look like a facelifted F56 by my request - unfortunately no green to match but most colors are in there. Install is time-consuming and is what you make of it - can be clean, can be hacky. Pretty decent in the end, about on par with a ~2016-2019 vehicle like a Bolt or older BMWs, not crazy high quality or accuracy like a top end system. iDrive control only - no 3rd party box in any category can use the touch screen. Also acts as a low quality 4 camera dash cam (720p each camera - but it's extreme fisheye.) ^ You need to drill holes in your mirror covers. I used a custom camera here for a low profile install. Usually they are bulky turret cameras that stick out like warts. ^ I 3D printed a camera holder for the front. Friction fit with some 3MVHB to hold in place. Got a touchup rattle can kit to color match the black. ^ There are various views, "2D" and full 3D. It reads steering wheel angles for moving lines, shows active obstructions (front and back) if you have parking sensors, and automatically turns to the correct view during certain events. Also if the system is ever unplugged, dies, or is slow to boot (ready in ~5s after powering on) the default is always to use the factory screen and back up camera.
That's really great, @carrrl ! Can you post the above in the What Did You Do To Your MINI Today or Must-Have Modifications threads?
