My dealer has not given me a production number, and in another thread, I've discussed why I haven't pressed them on that. I appreciate your summary of the pros and cons. I'm still ambivalent!
I agree if you have a production number you are likely in the queue for 2021 but you should be able to use that 6 digit number to find out the status. At this point for a March or April delivery you should have a number by now. There are great things about both models though.
Yes! I just did! It confirmed that my order was correct, and it says, as status, "SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION".
Awesome! Welcome to the state where you will check many times a day to see if it moved. Your dealer should be able to tell you what production week you are too.
My dealer didn't seem to know when it was supposed to be moved into production, and I have agreed to decide today if I want to wait for a 2022 model or not. I'm leaning towards waiting, as I don't really need a new car during the pandemic, and the estimate he's giving me for the 2022 is a June delivery (as opposed to March/April). I'm weighing the advantages of the 2022 model!
If it is scheduled as them to ask your manager at the dealership. They can look at the system and see what week it is scheduled for. For mine it was "scheduled for production" for quite a while. Good luck deciding. There are things nice about the 2022 for sure!
Unexpectedly, that was really good advice!* They told me that production for my vehicle was expected to start on the 7th of Feb. I asked what the earliest date it might get started and the fellow said Monday or Tuesday (!). So I think I will decide tonight. No sense in waiting much longer and have the choice taken out of my hands. It'll have to be a decision on what info has been made available today! *I say unexpected because if the website doesn't show any date, and the dealer says he can't get the date, I figured calling a centralized phone system wouldn't help, but it did!!!
You always have the choice to reject the car no matter what. The dealerships will sell the 2021 likely no issues at all. Mine has a demo now but any SE that comes does not last. The dealer honestly really should have been able to give you the date. They can look into the same system. I choose to go to ASK-MINI for some things like ship name just because it is faster. But really the manager at least can find this if they have the production number. The website will not show forward dates, just when it hits the next millstone. Just remember it weirdly goes backwards to port twice.
Would you please elaborate on what you mean buy the last part of that phrase "any SE that comes does not last"?
The moment they hit the website as available, they are being inquired about in a serious manner. There was an SE that arrived when mine did, it was actually picked up the day before I picked up mine. They really just do not stay on the lot long which is why bargains are few and far between. Same was true of the other two dealerships in my state.
I made it official! I'm going to shift my order to the 2022 model. I can't resist the new features, like the new look, and like that new Island Blue color! I'm supposed to be able to get it in June, which is totally fine.
Congrats! I decided today that I want the 2022. Although I technically still do not know which model year I am going to get. My salesguy said I should get a production number next week and then I can change my order to account for the new choices. Assuming I get the 2022, I am considering the 18” Pulse Spoke wheels and the Piano Black Exterior. I might even go with Island Blue, but not sure yet. My order is for BRG.
I'm curious myself. Much like I am not shocked the new dynamic dampers will not be available I wonder what little things change for the SE changes in height and weight.
