Factory shut down for a few weeks in August for vacations.

 

Confirmed with Ask Mini today. My car is on the Grand Duke which left 10/3 and is due in California on 10/28. Current marine status shows it due in Panama on 10/16. At least a few days after landing for my car to hitch a ride up to Washington.

Looks like the Rhea Leader dropped off it's cargo in San Diego, and L.A., and is now dropping off it's Oxnard cargo.

 

I swear, I'm never getting this car.

According to ASK-MINI on 8/9, production was scheduled week 38.
On 9/20, it was scheduled week 43.
On 10/11, it's scheduled week 47.

The original order was placed in May.

No one at ASK-MINI or my dealer can provide any info on why this is.

At this point I may as well give up and just be first in line for the 2023 model.

 

That's really frustrating

It seems like everything is in short supply or backordered indefinitely right now. Beyond the chip shortage, I couldn't even get windshield glass for my other car. It would have taken 4 months, minimum, with other people waiting even longer. And the used car market is just nutty.

 

Finally! Ordered June 28th, production slipped 5 weeks total, but it's finally moving along.

Good News! My Mini SE (and hopefully yours that was waiting at Southampton) is on a boat! Just got off the phone with Mini USA and my car left on the Lyra Leader which departed on October 11th. I’ve determined that this is a NYK Line Ro-Ro, traveling to Charleston, SC on October 22 and Port Hueneme on November 5th. So, I won’t get my car in time for the full $1500 rebate, but it is in transit. I can’t believe this is really happening.

 

Mine got on the Asian Majesty which left Southampton on the 11th as well. Stopping in Belgium and Canada on the way to what it calls New York, NY which is really Newark, NJ. Based on my experience in 2012 I should have the car about a week after that.

I'm actually surprised that will all of the concern that the dealer had about it potentially taking a long time to build it's really at almost the exact same pace as out build in 2012.

 

So exciting! I am so jelly… I literally dream about getting the order number so I can start tracking

I made it to paint today! So did my parent’s MINI. They are 27 apart according to VIN.

 

Missed the boat! Mine made it to the port on the 8th but still no ship assigned.

Missing out on the $1500 CA rebate deadline, too.

 

Can’t you pay now and finalize the transaction with the dealer now so everything is signed and dated prior to the CA deadline?

After sitting at the port since Oct 4, finally confirmed my SE made it onto the Hoegh Sydney and is scheduled to arrive in Baltimore on Oct 21. Progress!
