Delivery day for me! Well, really for my kids but I’m equally excited. My dealership is 90 miles away so I’m getting on a Greyhound bus soon. Hopefully the car will be charged to 100% to make it back!

Welcome to the forum! If you had chosen a regular old vehicle you could be driving it already. Everyone here will tell you a MINI Cooper SE is worth the wait. It would be nice if all MINI dealers were straightforward, but some of them are still "old school," trying to parlay what minimal power they have into customer gratitude, if not additional profits.

Rhea Leader just entered the Panama Canal. Should be in Oxnard in 10 days. Now I'm getting a little psyched.

Nice! Where is your Mini going? Sounds like it is waiting at the Port along with mine that is going to the West Coast.

I'm in Northern New Jersey in a town that borders Newark within commuting distance of NYC so the boat will probably end up at the port in either in Jersey City or Newark. I ordered a Countryman in 2012 that ended up in Jersey City back when I was dealing with the dealership in Manhattan. This time the dealership is in Edison, which is about 45 minutes from Jersey City depending on traffic. So it's essentially 'here' once it gets to the port.

I haven't actually gotten word that mine has left the factory. But from my experience in 2012 the tracker was a few days behind. When I got the name of the boat I worked out that there was a 3 day delay with when the online tracker actually knew it was on the boat verus when the boat had actually left port.

The waiting is the hardest part!

Hey y’all, first time post, long time lurker. I’m feeling really fortunate so far. Placed on order on 9-11 (honoring those lost that day reminded me of how little time we all have, and we should enjoy what we can). I was told I should expect a delivery in December, but my car has gone from entering production on 9/16 to awaiting carrier today 9/30/21. Is this normal/real? It seems the production and delivery process is so mercurial, with so many others still waiting for their car to be produced (or maybe they have not updated the tracker yet). Any thoughts on when I could see my car land in the SF Bay Area? Hoping by November 1 before our CA EV rebate amounts decreases.

Timeline from 'entering production' sounds reasonable. I think getting all the way to California by the 1st might be a bit much.

In 2012 my order was built (in Austria) on Aug 23rd and I actually got in the car (in New York City) and drove it on Sep 27th. Each step getting from the factory to the dealer takes a little while, and the trip across the ocean isn't fast. Now it got on a boat in Hamburg as opposed to Southampton, and your boat is going to California instead of NJ - but I'd expect the NJ>CA difference is bigger than the Hamburg>Southampton difference. That said, getting build 5 days after being ordered is faster than most experience (mine was 18 days), so maybe you've got someone looking out for you!

After a 15 day trip from the UK > Belgium > Germany > Spain, my mini is finally on it's way across the pond to NYC. It's riding on the appropriately named "Elektra" vehicle carrier. Scheduled to be at the US Port on 10/8!

Real close. The boat my car is on left England 9/17, expected in Oxnard CA 11/10. Do the math, how long to get to SF from LA?

Hey everybody! Intro is due first I suppose. I am switching to a MINI SE from a Jaguar I-Pace (electric), mostly because the MINI has 90% of what the Jaguar did for creature comforts, but will be far more entertaining for a quarter the price. I quickly discovered (as you all have already) that dealers couldn't get an SE on their lot to sell if their lives depended on it. After checking around, I surprisingly found my local dealer (Salt Lake City) had 3 SEs that had just entered production with no buyer yet. So on 8/31, I put a deposit on a BRG Signature that they were willing to convert from dealer stock to customer order. It finished production on 9/7, and was put on the Rhea Leader on 9/17.

I know some of you also have cars on the Rhea, and I managed to grab some screenshots of her going through the final lock before the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. In case you're interested.

I don’t know how, but my car is now on the train to the Port. I checked the WW website, and there is a boat leaving Southampton on 10/4 scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme on 10/29, which is cutting it very close. I hear in-state delivery is one day, so it will be down to the wire.

That's interesting info. If correct, my Mini will hopefully be on the same ship. Probably at least a couple of days from the port in CA to me up in WA.

Our MINI just moved to Production Begins. I assume/hope that means things will start happening a little more quickly.

Production Begins really just means that it's officially in the production queue. There's probably a scheduled date, but the website doesn't show it (the phone system that worked up until a few weeks ago would - so you might be able to get it from a person at ASK-MINI or perhaps your dealer). An order I had in 2012 spent 20 days at this state, my order that was just built on the 28th spent 10 days at this state. Once it's out of this state it's essentially built. The next few stages all take 1-3 days to complete once they start.

Has anyone run across a photo of MINI’s in the hold of the ship? I’d be real curious as to what that looks like.

Can't find anything Mini specific but there are some tours of RORO ships on YouTube that give you an idea. It's sort of like a floating parking garage where they park a tad closer than you want them to.
