Very exciting. I hope everything moves along more quickly for you. Before you know it, the dealer will be calling you to say it is ready. My MINI is finally "At the Port" again, which means it is sitting on the dock somewhere in Brunswick waiting for the truck to haul it to the final destination.
I was wondering what other peoples experience was with track my mini's website. Do you think it was a few days ahead, behind, or in sync with the actual status of the car. For example, my car went to "In Transit" from South Hampton on a day where there was no scheduled departure. It was 4 days after the last ship, but two days before the next one was scheduled to leave. My guess is it was loaded onto the ship that day and leaving two days later.
Some folks have waited up to 5 weeks at the port for a ship. I waited 18 days. There was a one day delay from when my SE boarded the ship and when the mini site was updated. A soon to arrive ship headed to your port is not a guarantee that your MINI will get rolled on. I got the impression that mini's website was pretty in sync, but that's just an assumption.
6 Weeks at the port for this guy. My dealer called me a few days before the site updated indicating it was at the port (6 weeks ago), so I was hoping that my ship may be further along.
Yikes! My car was "dispatched from factory" on 11/30 and has been sitting "at the port" ever since. Disheartening to hear I may only be halfway through the wait time.
I ordered my Mini SE October 15th. It went through the production cycle and entered 'At the port' on November 28. Today the status was finally updated after nearly a month to 'In Transit' (Was actually loaded yesterday), so it's been about 4 weeks wait myself at that point. Hopefully it's not much longer for you.
I think 6 weeks is unlikely, and I hope for your sake it gets loaded on a ship soon. The holidays might add to the delay as well. My mini sat at the dock in Southampton for 32 days, and then it was on a ship for 23 days. Now, my mini has been "At the Port" in Brunswick Georgia for 5 days. God knows when it will make it to the dealership at this point.
The day after my previous post, I received a call from my SA to tell me that my car arrived. I drove my MINI home yesterday, the day after Christmas. First impression? Wow. It is much better than I expected, and I absolutely LOVE the white multi-tone roof. I also really like the Light Checkered Black Pearl seats. (I went against what other people said about them looking like an old sofa.) My 100 mile drive home was a bit of a nail-biter, since I only had 6 miles of range left. Here is a picture FWIW, and I hope my comments help anyone else considering ordering a SE.
You took delivery during a rare cold winter in Florida. Did you use the heat or just the heated seats on the way home? Or did you go Green+ mode to ensure you didn't have to call a tow truck on your first drive? If you've read this forum, you know you probably had at least 20 miles left when the notoriously pessimistic Guess-O-Meter said you had 6.
It was very cold for Florida, and we are not prepared to deal with cold weather like that. My trip home was in Green+ with no heated seats. It was really not bad at all, but I wanted to make sure I didn't get stranded on my first drive. I'm not sure about the accuracy of the Guess-O-Meter, but it said that I had 6% battery life remaining. (However, I sat in the car for about 30 minutes trying to get my Carplay working, and that might have used some of those precious electrons.
In an EV thread on another forum we are discussing vampire draws dropping the available SOC while parked, and I commented that it’s my understanding that hotel power draws from the LVB, and the HVB only tops it up in an off state if it drops below a certain predetermined threshold, likely below 12V. Basically, I can’t imagine a BEV’s vampire draws in the off state are any greater than those in an ICEV.
I just picked up my Mini yesterday. Overall it was pretty painless. Placed the order the week before the Inflation Reduction Act went into effect. Got a "signed and binding contract" from dealer. Car went into production 8 weeks later, and was delivered to dealer 8 weeks exactly after production began. I think this is my favorite car I have owned so far!
Just changed from 'at port' to 'in transit' yesterday, 12/28... so, right around 4 weeks waiting for a ship. Not sure yet which boat it's on, but a mid-Jan arrival at the Baltimore port looks likely. Hopefully it doesn't sit there very long before finding a spot on a truck.
That's quite a recommendation, given that only twenty days ago you said "Almost exactly 6 months for this frustrating journey. I sure hope it was worth the wait."
Yes, indeed I did say that. Maybe I should qualify that my initial impression is that I am pleased with the quality of the car. But I cannot deny that the 6 month wait, and being bumped out in the schedule, was very frustrating.
