Yeah. If you think it may be a signal issue, my network controller indicates the Grizzl-E is at a solid -55 signal, similar to the smart outlet nearby. The screen shot ChargeLab sent indicates an average of -65, and varies from -85 to -55. ChargeLab says the turning point is -71 dBm, its an unreliable connection with less signal than -71 and not guaranteed less than -81.

Since setting it to a dumb charger works well, I kinda expect it has something more to do with the robustness of the connection to their server in terms of data error or packet loss mitigation. Perhaps a weak wifi implementation contributes to packet loss. I have a wired ethernet drop nearby, too bad a hardwire interface is not provided. Kinda Hard to make those weatherproof however.

I guess that, if they change the charger firmware to not require mothership authorization before charging, this problem will go away.

United basically said to disable the wifi and asked if I needed help doing it.

Its been cold, so I'll wait for a warm day. The new app seems to provide similar features (eye candy) as the original United site, before it transitioned to the Charge Lab app.

I'll have to double check if it shows the blue/white flash that 4havnfun observed and United replaced with a referb unit.

  4. I just blocked the MAC address for the charger on my router/access point & rebooted when I wanted to put it in “dumb” mode. Way easier in the cold than futzing with the dip switches.

Mine was blue/white flashing while I was having issues, but it's back to blue/magenta, flashing green, solid green like before. No idea what the firmware version is or was.

  6. I had to send them a video of it flashing blue/white continuously as proof. The brief blue/white flashing that occurred at the start of a charging session didn’t count. I only saw the blue/white while it was on wifi. I believe that blue/magenta when in dumb mode is normal when the vehicle isn’t connected.

  8. The blue/white is very similar to the blue/cyan that it displays while connected to wifi but without the vehicle plugged in. I’m sure I saw blue/white earlier but didn’t recognize it as not being blue/cyan until I started paying closer attention. Really poor choice of colours for the 2 status codes as they are very easily confused. The good news is that the status codes are much less ambiguous withe the non-ChargeLab version
