I recently got the same notification when I plugged in my SE at a full charge, so normal but is it a new notification from the app?

I haven't seen it before, but tbh I don't think I've re-plugged at 100% other than while diagnosing the recent problems (and as it was below 100% – even just a smidge – it would charge for a short bit).

As I was turning on the car today I saw a notice and graphic flash across the instrument cluster, something about unable to charge, but the notice flashed by so fast I didn't catch the reason. I think it may have been a left over notification that clears shortly after tuning it on, perhaps from unplugging. I don't recall seeing that notification before.

That's the one I was getting regularly since about Labor Day.

Update: just stood in the darkened garage, asked Alexa to "warm up my car" (this seems to work quicker than using the MINI app). Within a few seconds the cacophony of preconditioning noises began, and a few seconds later the LED on the Grizzl-e switched from flashing blue (idle) to flashing green (charging).

The only thing I can think is that they indeed pushed a firmware update.

  9. I think that flashing blue indicates that it is connected and waiting for the vehicle. Was the car fully charged when you plugged it in? I think the real test will be once it has completed charging. (solid green) and then try get it to warm up the car. I have yet to see it go to flashing green from solid green.

Has anyone ever documented an OTA firmware update taking place with a MINI? I thought only MINI service centers could update the car's firmware.

I was referring to the charger's firmware.

Will try that in a few minutes and report, but I'm confident.

This morning was a fail for me, I think. I left the car plugged in all night, 100% charged. Solid green light on the charger. Used the app to initiate pre-condition. And within a minute it started to warm up. Cool... I did not open any doors, just observed. Within a minute the car display indicated unable to charge. The charger indication stayed solid green. Does this mean its warming up on battery only? I waited a minute but the charge failure remained. Perhaps not patient enough?

If I recall correctly, I could turn off the warm up via the app, but that did not appear to work for me this morning. Maybe never did. Toggling the on off switch didn't stop the warm up. Selecting D and then back to P, then turning off the car stopped the warm up. Battery now at 97% indicated. After plugging the charger back in, it negotiated and topped off the battery.

So apparently warm up was initiated, but it was drawing off the battery.

I may be able to try again tomorrow and with more patience.

In my experience solid green (charge port light) means the SE is pulling power but not charging the battery, such as when climatizing.

Sorry, got sidetracked early then just didn't get around to coming back here.

My update is that it all worked as designed. Solid green, cacophony, flashing green, 100%, no errors.

Many of us also frequent NAM and MiniF56 forums so it's understandable.

Did you turn wifi back on? I think they must've pushed the update just before the weekend because mine was still throwing the error as late as last Wednesday.

After 20 years of driving 2 gen-1 Honda Insights, I tried to get Honda to bring me a Honda e. I'm so glad they didn't because I know it can't be as wonderful as my SE.

Unfortunately, there was no way to change my handle here to eMINIman to match my important website created in the hope of persuading MINI to offer a hood-scoop delete option. So I just put the moniker in my scoopless avatar.

I love this troll-free forum full of SE enthusiasts!

I did not turn wifi off. Today it seemed to revert. It was plugged in overnight (100%) then I asked for precondition this AM which worked but after about 30 seconds the "cannot charge" error popped up on the dash, and the battery drained. The charger's green light stayed steady. An hour later I unplugged the charger and canceled precondition (dunno off hand if it times out anyway). It then failed to negotiate on the subsequent charger plug in until I reinserted it a couple times.

Let me know if you hear new info from United. I fear that it's an intermittent condition, and as there are more variables than we can control in our rudimentary diagnostic efforts, my relief might only be temporary.
