  5. Are all automakers like this? Genuine question here.

    I am amazed in this day and age how poor communication is (Kona EV owner like you I think here)... I get that Canada might not be their biggest market but Jesus. Both @ dealerships and Hyundai Canada... It's embarrassing.

  6. No, it's not like this everywhere, certainly not as consistently. Just look at the amount of communication GM did with their battery recall. They issued more info, had more press, answered more questions in August alone than Hyundai did between the February recall announcement and now.

  8. With regard to pricing I have to say it seems far lower than I'd anticipated. They've done a lot of feature cuts in all trims to achieve the pricing though. Am I misremembering or have they re-priced the Kona to align it better with the Ioniq pricing?

  9. What feature cuts have you noticed?

  10. What I mean is that the full list if features publicized in the global launch are missing on all the trims. Fancy seats, colour choices, materials are all mixed and matched and/or missing depending on trims. I believe there are several software based features also missing though it's hard to confirm. Has anyone seen a chart that compares features between trims? I have not. A comparison tool is usually supplied by manufacturers but not in this case. I find it a bit frustrating.

    I just checked and there are no U.S. prices posted yet.

  15. Exactly. They should have offered an Ultimate package with the Preferred Long Range RWD. The UK got a nice mix of optional packages to choose from. Of course they are also paying far more...

    So will this car get a federal rebate or not? …. I know it is not in the current ZEV list …. But it might be too early for the Feds, they need time … …. But maybe the car is not eligible, because the official website has no price under 45K??? …. Can you say confusing, yet again?

    The other question is, can the OEM hitch be ordered with any trim? Or is it part of any trim, like ID.4?

  18. My reading of Federal regulations says that NONE of the trims qualifies for a rebate. Odd that Hyundai offers the loss leader Essential trim but then fails to keep it under the qualifying $45K.

    I would tend to agree. Yet, many sites report it absolutely is … the issue is that somehow they were told a different, lower prices than what one gets going to the official website. Really strange. I guess Hyundai Canada is just really clueless in how to communicate accurately and timely …. Such a trivial yet seemingly very hard job for them to do.

    Back out the freight cost and yes, the base model is just below c$45k. My question, is for Ontario, is will the Ultimate trim (above c$55k) be getting the federal rebate.

  21. We got an email from the dealer. All trims except the ultimate do qualify for all the rebates here in BC. As far as the Ultimate is concerned, they still haven't received the official word. My personal opinion is it will also quality just like the ID.4 with Statement package does. We'll see...

    • a vehicle with six seats or less, where the base model Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is less than $45,000; and
      • higher priced versions of these vehicles, up to a maximum MSRP of $55,000, will also be eligible for purchase incentives;

    So your BC dealer told you that the car qualifies for the federal 5K rebate? …. Which states that MSRP of the lowest trim car must be under 45K and not over 55K …. I am in Ontario and when I go to Hyundai website, the lowest price I see is 46,951 …. What do you see in BC?
