  1. I am still waiting. This is despite several emails to Hyundai Canada and repeated follow up calls to my dealer. To add insult to injury, I just received another Safety Recall Notice saying that "Batteries are now available to repair your vehicle......." . I have been waiting for a year.

  3. That's odd considering the response from your dealer regarding replacements was both earlier and more positive than mine was.

  4. Yes, more than odd. They have been telling me for months that I am "next on the list".

  5. My new battery was manufactured 2021/12/02, it took them 3.5 months from factory to find the underside of my car.

  6. Just received an email from my dealer saying the battery has an estimated delivery here at the Kingston dealership on April 19. I will believe it when I see it. Fortunately, for the most part, I have not been majorly disadvantaged by the 80% limit, except for one time in February when it was -21 Celsius and I was not able to make it to Ottawa when the DCFC in Prescott was out of order. I was lucky to make it back to Kingston. Will report back when the battery is finally replaced. It may very well be the longest wait for a battery replacement.

  8. My dealer hit the "estimated date" exactly. Hoping you have the same luck.

  9. Best of luck, I hope it comes in sooner than later. I received zero feedback from my dealership (who had my car the entire 6 months) other than shrugged shoulders until one day they said they had a tracking # and the battery was installed that week!

Contacted Q3 ,2021 by dealer to bring the Kona in for a battery replacement. They didn't have one,so I declined after reading the bricking for months horror stories.Same dealer in Q1,2022 ,Hyundai informs me they DO NOT have the necessary equipment to REPLACE my yet to arrive battery. Four dealers later who can sell, but were incapable of REPLACING the battery, the battery is now replaced as of Q2, 2022. It was determined in the "scan/firmware update" my EV qualified for a replacement back in Q1, 2020. I have waited since then to potentially not catch fire as Hyundai authorized dealerships to SELL their EVs,but not replace the very thing that makes it an EV,the Li-ion:rolleyes:

The battery does look "different" since I don't recall seeing plugs(?)on the surface with the original Li-ion.I tried to look for a OE tag,but on first glance don't see one to see who manufactured the recall battery.

Why HMC didn't just order from SKI in 2020 for their global recall once it knew they couldn't avoid the physical defect in the LG packs doesn't build back much confidence . As another forum member remarked,Hyundai didn't prioritize their recall as they produced the Kia 6,and Ioniq 5.This is problematic for me,compounded by the incapable dealership who sat on my Li-ion recall, with Hyundai knowing they couldn't execute it,and doing NOTHING.

I will need to do some highway driving to see the kWh efficiency, especially the charging curve on DCFC,HPC like EA if it's part of a route.

  11. Yes, when all is said and done with the battery replacement saga I think we'll find that the biggest constraint in getting the recall completed will not be battery supply but battery-handling-equipment supply. I hope it's a wake-up call to Hyundai that "authorized" EV dealers need to invest in their infrastructure and that Hyundai needs to supply them properly.

I've had a confirmed battery defect since Q1, 2021* Issues with the battery existed in 2020.It's been a long haul. I wanted to update here in case the USA owners aren't impacted. There is a July 27,2021 bulletin 21-C0415-2.It cancels the June 22,2021 bulletin TSB 21-C0415-1.According to the text,no gift card will be issued for the very issues Hyundai was trying to offer good will for in the first place.

  14. Any luck?

  15. Yes, the battery was received by the dealership today. The appointment for the swap is not until May 3, because several technicians are off work due to Covid. That's OK with me, what are another couple of weeks when I have been waiting for over a year? Will be glad to get back to normal.

  16. So, like mine, the estimated delivery date was pretty accurate. That's good. Maybe Hyundai has finally been able to establish a supply chain without kinks and gaps? Hoping the lessons they've learned over the battery shenanigans carry over into the rest of their business.

  17. The battery swap was finally done yesterday and I was pleased that the dealership had charged up the new battery to 98%. All seems to be in order and there is no indication that anything has changed. I must be just about the last one on Canada to get a replacement battery. Or are there others still waiting? I am also wondering how long it will be to receive the $850 "fuel compensation" card? .....Rickker

  18. I got my $815 within the window they quoted. Good luck with the new battery.
    * about 6 weeks

  19. I know this has been discussed before, but am wondering if the replacement batteries are possibly thicker than the originals? Or is it just that the new battery is a nice shiny aluminum colour? I am not alarmed about this, but surprised that I never noticed the original battery from a side view as in the photos. IMG_2614.JPEG IMG_2615.JPEG IMG_2615.JPEG IMG_2615.JPEG

  20. Sorry about the duplicate photo postings. Need more practice with uploading and posting photos. ....Rickker

  21. I think the consensus was that the bare aluminum is more visible because some cosmetic, black tape has been eliminated from the newer batteries and that it seems to be a few millimeters deeper than the original. Small changes make a big visual difference, eh?

May 10 and we just had our battery replaced in our 2019. Hyundai booking contractors phoned us in February and booked us in for the battery replacement - we were super excited but when we arrived on our appointed day we found out they didn't have the battery only a bag of nuts and bolts. Now several months later we finally have it installed just today! woohoo pretty happy about this being finally done. The battery arrived in Prince George (BC) three weeks ago but the dealership did a dry run on its demo Kona EV and figured out right away that their hoist would not work. We then waited for the dealership to order and received extensions for their hoist to make it big enough to be able to disconnect the old battery and install the new one. I am pretty happy with the staff at our dealership but definitely not impressed with Hyundai Canada. We are also still dealing with "National" over the $850 for waiting so long for this recall to be done. Oh and the time has disappeared from the display all we see are dashes where the time used to be. I cycled through all of the menus and nothing else seems to have changed but the missing clock. Really miss the clock so I will be having to follow up on that. Has anyone else had a missing clock after the new battery install?

  23. I kind of like it the way it is (without the black tape). Matches the silver detail on the bottom of the doors;)
