Speaking of parts compatability: based on a reddit post, it seems that the SE uses the same motor mounts as the JCW. Interesting engineering/repurposing, that... build the "shark cage" around the electric motor to enable use of the existing ICE motor mounts, then use the one from the most powerful model, to accommodate the electric motors high torque. I mean, it's perfectly logical, but I still tip my hat to whomever thought of it.

The first i3 had a software downgrade as they broke mounts. BMW is probably not short of mounts to choose from...

After reading InsideEVs forums for the Hyundai Kona Electric and the Kia Niro, I'm appalled at the problems those cars are having with a drive gear that goes bad and the confusion about expensive battery coolant that needs replacing frequently.

I was excited when MINI leased out a small number of MINI E electric cars in 2009. Then I was disappointed when BMW followed up the MINI E with the expensive i3 instead of an electric MINI for the masses. Now I'm happy that BMW gained EV experience with the i3 that benefitted the MINI Cooper SE, a car that doesn't have chronic problems that all owners must worry about like the Korean electrics. Fortunately, the forums appear to indicate the newer Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 benefit from lessons learned from the earlier Korean electrics.

However, it took them a first generation of these crossovers before admitting they blew it by omitting a rear wiper. The upcoming, more powerful Ioniq 5 "N" is getting a rear wiper.

Just be happy you don't have a $42,000 repair for a Rivian rear fender.

I saw a Tesla model 3 get rear-ended (at slow speed) yesterday. Based on the sound, my thought at the time was, "Eh, plastic bumper cracked big-time, just slap on a new one". But, maybe not!

Sure. Let me tell my mechanic to put it in the car and I'll take a look at it when I get it back this weekend or Monday.

If my mechanic hasn't tossed it, I'll ask him to put it in the back of the car for me.

That's nuts. I'm pretty thankful all the parts on the f56 SE's are pretty much the same as the regular Minis. That was one of my main reasons for considering this car.

One last part seems to be giving me a headache, and it's the front speed sensor. The part number appears to be 34526895880. Is this something that's available at an auto parts counter like autozone over the holiday weekend, or is a wait until Tuesday thing?
