This morning "contributed" my additional $400 for an AWD. Automated response cites 6-8 months for delivery. (i.e. Jan-Mar 2022) So ... there might be some nearby "slush" to test the AWD.
Any news on US delivery of the AWD ID.4. Total silence from VW. Somehow, Seems unlikely will get the AWD in the US before ‘22 (hope I’m wrong).
Ouch. That is nuts. I am glad I went with the XC40 Recharge then and cancelled my P8 as I have already had my Volvo 10 weeks.
My AWD is still showing Oct delivery, but i paid the $400 on June 11th. Anybody show their 4WD order "leaving factory"?
pucksave: Soon after I paid my $400 on July 9th, my my own status webpage ALSO changed to "Oct-Nov" ... where it remains today. However, the e-mailed "payment receipt" from VW explicitly cited "6-8 months for delivery" for AWD models. (i.e. Jan-Mar 2022). This obvious dis-continuity between the "written letter" and the "online status" indicates a certain "lack of attention" by VW re: the provision of meaningful customer updates. I received another boilerplate "thank you" e-mail from VW in late-July, but it avoided all mention of shipping timelines. FYI, I'm NOT a "VW-Basher" ... just citing my own observations.
Following this thread for information. We put in an order for an AWD ProS today and the registration put the ETA at April 2022. Not going to wait that long.
I paid the additional $400 in March. Owner's portal shows September - October 2021. It's still on "order locked" status. Has not moved. It should soon if they want to get it to the US by October.
I spoke to VW and they also confirmed 6-8 months for AWD builds and seemed to think that they wouldn't be building AWD for dealer inventory at this point.
I put a reservation in for an AWD a week or so ago. Also got he April 22 delivery date. Which I'm cool with. FWIW, I was talking to a dealer about the rate of inventory replenishment. Now take this for the noise that it is, but he said the only ID.4s they get are the ones that are reserved, but then the buyer backs out. He was pretty adamant that this was the new way VW was approaching the sales of the ID.4 and if I wanted one (RWD) to place a reservation and keep an eye on dealer stock for a lucky drop, then cancel the reservation if I found one. If I wanted an AWD, the reservation system was the only sure-thing. So that aligns with what you heard. FWIW.
I suppose that's possible, but there are literally dozens of RWD models available within 50 miles of me. Seems weird that there would be so many cancelled reservations.
According to Cars.com, within 50 miles of me in the Philly/Del/NJ area there are literally (not figuratively)... 10. And that is 5 less than a week or so ago (ask me how I know). So I guess it can be a regional thing, but my experience is that they move wicked fast in this area and when I asked when the new ones come in, I was told they don't. I called it "noise" and your implied intuition about some dealer stock may be correct. But given the current chip shortage and inventory stresses that are making it a seller's market for the ages, I decided to skip it all and just get on a reservation list. I like my current garage, so I can wait. But dang, I am impressed with VW's foray into this market.
Congrats! I think you beat the expectations at this point. Keep us in the loop, there is still hope the chip/parts shortage is being managed by VW and Audi.
I also received notice my ProS AWD w/Gradient is leaving the factory. The online portal currently shows an Estimated Pickup of : Sep 2021 - Oct 2021. If that holds true, it's 4-8 weeks of shipment plus in US processing. My dealer is Southeastern CT. I placed my initial reservation September of 2020.
I contacted my dealer. Located in California. They said it takes between 3-4 weeks from the notification to the arrival at their dealership. Much faster than what I expected. Means mid to end of September arrival. We will see. I also placed my reservation on the day the id.4 was launched.
VW confirmed my ID.4 left the factory via email on 28 August. Today 18 Sept3ember, barely 3 weeks later, I received notice my ID.4 is in the US. Does anyone know which port East coast VWs would arrive through? NY/NJ ? I'm curious how long it'll take to get to the dealer.
Within the portal: Your ID.4 is almost home. Your ID.4 is in the country and making its way to <dealer location>, CT. Your dealer will contact you when your vehicle is ready for pickup.
