I made a reservation in July and have yet to get any update/ability to make the additional deposit. Wonder if the geography matters?
I have heard others indicate about 10 days from reservation to order locked. Not sure if the dealer plays a role in this, but some have indicated that the order lock email might go to junk email folder. Can you comment on what AWD model you ordered, Pro, Pro S, with or without gradient package? I have heard some say VW may be prioritizing the Pro S with gradient package. I do know that our local dealer emailed an acknowledgment as soon as we placed a reservation.
I received an email saying they couldn't guarantee our 2021 AWD order, unless we upgraded to the Gradient package. We might end up with the 2022 model, the kicker being that they can't say what the price will be.
It still might be a while before you get the car. My car arrived on 10/25. Dealer now says it's expected to arrive at dealership between 11/17 and 11/22. Status on portal has not moved, I assume it's still at the port. Well, should have it before Thanksgiving.
ya I figure. Just putting the dates out there for folks. Also mine is headed to Maine. I assume dest makes a difference too.
So I’m in Western PA and placed my ID.4 Pro S AWD reservation on July 27, 2021 and haven’t heard anything since. Nothing in my junk mail either. Not sure if this matters but I didn’t want the gradient package; I like solid color cars.
I would guess your vehicle will be built in the Chattanooga, TN plant when they get running at full speed. If that is true, it might be awhile before your order will lock. I read they won’t be producing for customers until late summer or early fall of 2022. The waiting is the worst; we are certainly a society of instant gratification.
Honestly the wait isn’t what bothers me. It’s the lack of communication. If they were open about the wait time is and why the are all a different I would be so much more understanding. But hearing that some people reserved last month and are already waiting for the car to arrive when I’ve been sitting for nearly four months with nothing is incredibly frustrating. I might as well put in a reservation for the Nissan Ariya if the ID. 4 really takes that long since the arrival time is the same.
Funny that you mention the Nissan Ariya as that was the car we were waiting for; took so long and we went and test drove the RWD ID4 at our local dealership and husband and I both liked it enough to commit. I don’t doubt the Ariya will be a great car, but also appears to be more pricey than the 2021 AWD ID4.
After my car arrived at a port in California on 10/25, I finally got a call from my dealer today. The car arrived at the dealership! They will get the car ready, they received like 16 cars today. I have an appointment on Tuesday at noon to pick up the car. Finally!
Still no email for me - I made our reservation on 10/3 and locked on 10/14 with Pro S AWD w/ gradient package. Using the portal and developer tools I can see that our car has a commission number and is at status code 15-1 (scheduled for production). We still have a delivery estimate for Jan-Feb 2022; so I am still guessing that our car may be built in the next few weeks and ship late December or early January. Only time will tell - I will post if I learn anything new.
Out of curiosity Stb105, was your order locked with the additional $400 or were you just at the $100 reservation phase? Can you post your build? Pro, Pro S, Pro S with gradient?
I placed on July 27 and never moved past the $100 phase. We reserved an ID.4 Pro S (Statement). I assume moving into the 2022 model means we're likely waiting until next fall, which will probably impact our plans unfortunately.
I’ve been trying to get some semblance of sanity and figure out what the approximate status is for shipment of my ID.4 AWD. Looking at some of the posts on this blog, Action Date. Other A. Other B. JimO $100 Deposit. MAR 11. Mar 21 April 10 $400 Deposit. July 9. June 30. June 22 NOTICE Leave Oct 23 Oct 28 Factory It appears few members posed after the dealer notifies them their vehicle has arrived in the US. One member was kind enough to post ships and their manifest. Working with the information from this website, the ID for ships out of EMDEN. If you look up the vessel SIEM ARISTOTLE on vesselfinder.com you’ll see it’s next port is EMDEN. There are several ‘SIEM’ that service the US East Coast, Cicero, Confucius, Aristotle, Plato and Mediterranean Highway. If you navigate to the highlighted Emden it will bring up the status of the port and ships arriving, in port, departing. Each one good for about 7000 cars (VW Audi etc.) From the information above and tracking ships it appears VW updates it’s “leaving the factory“ on the day it gets to or boards the ship for shipment to the United States. It also appears to be prioritizing production based upon the day the initial hundred dollar deposit was made. Just my best guess
Update on AWD order progress: It appears that my AWD is NOW actually at-sea; having sailed from Emden about 38-days after "production complete." FWIW, still have not received any "update" email since the "Order Lock" confirmation; VW Owner's Portal status remains "Leaving the Factory / Estimated Pickup Nov-Dec 2021" I'd encourage anyone with an "production complete" status - meaning that a VIN is assigned - to use the Dealer's portal. Once reaching this stage, the dealer has MUCH more logistics visibility than is made available to "mere customers" via the Owner's Portal. Recap of my own dates so far: 03/21/2021 -- Initial Order (i.e. initial $100 Deposit) 07/09/2021 -- Order Lock (i.e. additional $400 Deposit) 10/15/2021 -- Production Complete 11/22/2021 -- Actual Vessel Departure 01/05/2022 -- Estimated Vessel Arrival (into Jacksonville, FL) 01/14/2022 -- Estimated Release to Car Carrier (for 475 mi over-road truck-transport to Chattanooga) 01/17/2022 -- Estimated Delivery to Dealer (1/17/2022 - 1/27/2022) \
