Well, AWD Pro S w/ gradient we ordered which locked on 10/14/21 and had been at code 15-1 just moved to order status 15-2 today. We have not received any email in regards to MY22 and delivery date for us in NE still showing Jan-Feb 22. Looks like we will get one of the very last 2021 models built. Fine by me, we weren’t in a desperate need for a new vehicle and we ordered this fall expecting a longer wait. I am hopeful that many of the changes listed for MY22 might be available as OTA updates.

I also heard there will be a price increase. Let’s not judge the overall value change until we know more.

  6. well just wanted to let folks know
    3/21 - reservation placed
    6/30 - $400 deposit locked in
    10/28 - left the factory
AWD, pros, gradiant package, floor mats
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11/17 - got message saying it was in the US
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12/4 - Saw the dealer site said the car was there (no update to VW Portal). I called and it was there. They were closed Sunday and were prepping the car on Monday. Picking up Tomorrow 12/7.
12/5 - Drove up to get a sneak peak and it was there :)
12/6 - VW portal updated but no email from VW portal.

Warning to Maine buyers: My MSRP was $50,009 and maine rebat is less than $50K to I was over by $9 and will lose $2k because of this. Working on trying to get around this (since it was floor mats that put me over) but not sure if we will be able to. Dealer met me half way and discounted the car $1k.

  8. They must be premium floor mats (to match the new car). Maybe next time, order them separately. Hope all goes well on p/u :)

Just got notice my AWD ‘Production on your ID.4 is complete. Your vehicle has started its journey across the Atlantic and is making its way to you.’

    Chart from previous note:
Action Date. Other A. Other B. JimO
    $100 Deposit. MAR 11. Mar 21 April 10
    $400 Deposit. July 9. June 30. June 22
NOTICE Leave Oct 23 Oct 28. TODAY Dec 7

My best guess is SIEM ARISTOTLE sailed on Dec 5.
Atlantic crossing 14 days each port before Jax 2 days. Say 21 days. So maybe in US by New Year.

It appears shipping order is based upon $100 deposit date. And shipment definitely comes out of Port of Emden. They probably coordinate shipment to US with vessel schedules(see previous post). They run the Atlantic circle Emden Canada/US East Coast Houston then Mexico and return same route back to Emden. The ‘delay or surge’ in setting a tighter schedule is due to the port/ship/factory uncontrollable issues(weather, equipment breaking, supply issues, etc.)

    Hope this helps.

  11. DONE!!!! Just getting home from the dealer. It's a great car. AWD is much quicker than the 2WD. So let me run down a few things that I have found to maybe help anyone else.

    1. To setup the ev America app, you need the vin and another number that is located under the vin on the window sticker.
    2. No back license plate mount, they drill into the bumper (common I think but just thought I'd mention it)
    3. The heat/volume/heat buttons do not light up. Very poor design, my only complaint about it right now. These are the buttons/slider located under the main display.
    4. Screen is laggy as I'm sure most of you have seen in the videos. I'm a software engineer and have reasonably sound knowledge on android gestures, drags and events (what happens when you swipe vs click and drag vs click). I tried turning off the motion sensing feature and the no touch gesture feature and the screen seems much faster. I'll play with it tomorrow and see if it's my imagination or not.
    5. the key fob 1/2 preset button is located on the seat near the other adjustments.

Dates and timelines are in a post above

  13. Update on AWD order progress:

    Woo hoo! Vehicle's in Jacksonville.

VW Owner's Portal status changed to "Arriving in the US / Estimated Pickup Nov-Dec 2021"

My experience mirrors that of other's posts in that VW has apparently stopped sending any "update" e-mails.

    Recap of dates so far:

    03/21/2021 -- Initial Order
    (i.e. initial $100 Deposit)
    07/09/2021 -- Order Lock (i.e. additional $400 Deposit)
    10/15/2021 -- Production Complete
    11/22/2021 -- Vessel Departure
    (Vessel 645)
12/06/2021 -- Vessel Arrival (into Jacksonville, FL)
12/08/2021 -- Released to Car Carrier (for 475 mi over-road truck-transport to Chattanooga)
None Listed -- Estimated Delivery to Dealer

  14. Since your vehicle is complete, your dealer can NOW provide your vehicle's VIN.

Armed w/ your VIN, the dealer can THEN bring-up a wealth of actual production and shipping info. (with much higher resolution than VW's vague "Owner's Portal" or their "Sometimes" e-mail)

FWIW my own vehicle experienced a 38-day delay from "Production Complete" (presumably at Zwickau) to "Shipped" (from Emden - abt 375 mi distant).

Once shipped from Emden, it required an additional 16-days until "released" to dealer-delivery transporters at the Port of Jacksonville. [unsure if vessel had previous U.S. stops (e.g. in Providence or Baltimore)]

My ID.4 got to the dealer last Thursday. It took days for them to get me a sales sheet so I could get that to my bank. They finally did that today and I am waiting for my bank to do its thing and send them a check.

  17. Brian:

This is a GREAT tip. Thanks!

Can you possibly expand a bit?

What might be a reasonable test to perform at the dealer BEFORE "drive-away?"

(Hopefully I'll be performing this check within a week or so)

  18. download the app and make sure you connect. Goto the id4 info screen and settings and carnet.

So after hours of being on calls I went back to the car, opened the app on my phone and selected "Add another car" and added my car again(even though it was already there) and it worked.

App is still pretty unimpressive but I can at least tell the car is charging.

Checked the portal on a whim, and we are listed as "Leaving the Factory" for a base version AWD. I just finally figured out the developer tools Sunday, so it was very recent. I have not received any email notification about that yet. The last email I received was a delayed production notice from early November, saying they would update us in January., I checked the portal info again and saw no VIN yet.

I forget when I did the initial $100 deposit, and our reservation had been cancelled. I was able to renew it and locked on 6/21, but did not receive email confirmation until 7/31. Very curious how long it takes to get to the west coast, I would expect rail transport from an east coast port.

My car was shipped to directly to the west coast (Bay Area):
    8/25 - leaving factory
10/25 - arrived in US, port of entry Benicia
    11/27 - arrived at dealership
11/30 - picked up the car

  21. Update on AWD order progress:

Done! Vehicle picked-up this morning from the dealer !!!

VW Owner's Portal status is: "Prepare for Purchase / Estimated Pickup Nov-Dec 2021"

Interestingly; received a VW update e-mail just today (the 1st since "Order Locked" in July) reading in-part: "... Your ID.4 is making its way to your dealership ... Once your ID.4 is ready for pick‑up ..."

    Special Shout-Out of "Thanks" to:

Brian Prendergast -- Vehicle could not be added into CarNet (server side) by dealer. Issue added to official "still owed to customer" form.

ericy: -- Thanks to the heads-up in another IEV thread, dealer is providing a "HomeLink" rear-view mirror at no additional charge on official "still owed to customer" form. (parts-only; I'll install myself ... saving abt $320 on VW parts-counter quote)

    Recap of dates:

    03/21/2021 -- Initial Order
    (i.e. initial $100 Deposit)
    07/09/2021 -- Order Lock (i.e. additional $400 Deposit)
10/15/2021 -- Production Complete (at Zwickau plant; Mosel GE)
    11/22/2021 -- Vessel Departure (Vessel 645)
12/06/2021 -- Vessel Arrival (into Jacksonville, FL)
12/08/2021 -- Released to Car Carrier (for 475 mi over-road truck-transport to Chattanooga)
12/14/2021 -- Loaded on car-carrier truck at Jacksonville, FL
    12/15/2021 -- Arrived at dealer
12/18/2021 -- Delivery to happy owner

VeeDub’r Great on your delivery!!! Could you please explain “HomeLink” issue and how you obtained at no additional charge. Thanks

  23. Sure, glad to help.

Homelink is a licensed, proprietary wireless system used to operate many garage doors and security gates ... including our own. Details here: https://homelink.com/

It's been installed in MANY cars - usually as a trim option - for years; including our model-year 2006 VW. (where it's built-in to the driver's sun visor)

Note that besides convenience, "built-in" provides a certain measure of security as - unlike the "clip-on clickers" - your garage door can't be opened from your car parked in the driveway w/o your vehicle's key.

Although our 2021 AWD ID.4 included EVERY possible "orderable" option ... the built-in capability to open garage doors and gates was NOT included.

We'll not speculate as to how or why VW arrived at this design decision.

However, on ID.4, this capability IS available and integrated into the "replacement" rear-view mirror; which must be purchased and installed separately. (We were provided a $320 "parts only" quote at the dealer's parts counter)

As to "HOW" we did it ... we simply asked the Sales Manager politely; pointing-out the significant business we've brought the dealership's service department over the last decade w/ our 2x "older" VWs (2000 & 2006); which we STILL own, operate, and maintain.
