Still in tech... Same mental state. I had a 2019 Iconic trim Cooper S, I refused to pay $1000 for the self parking feature and because of that, I had a blank switch. This time around, I made sure, just like you will the next time you buy a Mini or even another brand.
This is one thing I’d really like to do. Bummer if they are really one assembly. I was hoping that I could actually wire them up to do something, even if it is silly. But bonus points if you could use BimmerCode to code them to activate some hidden feature. I know, I’m dreaming. And I don’t have the time to dig into whether that is even possible. I ordered the right side sun visor off fleabay. Won't know if it's right, until it comes. Paid about $115 USD w free shipping. Most practical accessory I've purchased so far for the SE.
I liked "Won't know if it's right..." You won't be happy if the one you receive is made to fit only on the left! Actually, I'd be surprised if MINI made different side sunvisors for the left and right sides. Wouldn't it be funny if the forum members' cars that were stuck in QC for so long were waiting for left sun visors while there were tons of right-side visors in stock? Maybe not funny. Just minutes ago I was getting out of the passenger seat of our SE and I decided to try using the grab handle. I'll be ordering a right-side sun visor soon. I look forward to reading if you like your fleabay purchase.
Caliper painting update: I had G2 mix a custom body color paint that was very close to Energetic Yellow on the Pantone scale, bought a proper floor jack and some stands, and attempted this as a DIY project over the long weekend. With some help from my daughter, I think it turned out OK. The color is a little more muted than I expected, but there's not much I can do about it now. Learned a lot (and saved a lot of $$)!
You chose well in your selection of a MINI wheel through which your pretty calipers could be seen. I would guess your daughter now feels a bond with your beautiful SE.
I’m so glad you went the extra mile (and moolah) to get the custom yellow with such an open wheel design! It looks amazing. I’m also glad I chose black G2 precisely because my calipers are basically invisible under the Power Spokes. But in winter with the Victorys, I’ll be glad they’re at least anything other than cruddy or oxidized, so black will work.
I had the same observation. Was planning to look for the passenger side-sunvisor to replace the grab handle when I noticed my wife grabbing the grab handle to exit from the back seat. At this time, I am holding off with this upgrade even though I think it is a really cool upgrade
LOL, I wished. Because our daughter wanted to sit in front I am wondering if the grab handle was not there, not sure what other handle the back seat passenger would have grabbed onto.
I had the rare opportunity to ride in the back seat of our SE last week when I was letting a friend and his wife try driving this fun electric car. I put my weight on the top of the folded front seatback when I exited both sides. I'll have get in the right rear seat and try using the grab handle. Of course, an occupant of the left rear seat would not have the option to use a grab handle because the driver's side sun-flap takes the place of the grab handle on that side of the car.
Yeah, with just over 1200 miles on my odometer, and seeing a frightening amount of road rash on the front end, I’m now regretting not having put a full front end PPF on when I got the windows tinted before delivery, so I could throw that into my financing as well. I’ve never owned a car that got this speckled this quickly. I’m going to get a Dr. Colorchip kit and do what I can and then shop for a PPF.
Clear Bra North Dallas: https://youtube.com/c/BrentThomasclearbranorthdallas Extremely happy with the work. This is the second vehicle I have taken there in fact.
I have a base 23 with no sunroof. Built in June. There were very few extras on the plus that I wanted. $4000 buys a lot of stuff that I do want. My dealer said Mini were about to drop the no-sunroof option, so placed my order. The 2024 is going to be completely new, built in China. Longer range, higher top speed, maybe a bit more power. I may well be sorely tempted to get one. It would be far better for trips. If I'd known about it, I'd have waited another year or so to get one. Oh well. It seems the SE has about zero depreciation and I got in before the tax thing expired...
Assuming BMW thinks there’s a business case to sell a small, Chinese-made EV in the US against a wall of tariffs and zero tax credits. Unless they change their strategy, add a line at Greer, and contract for USMCA batteries, that’s unlikely.
You're sitting in the cat-bird's seat because you get to drive an Oxford MINI Cooper SE while we wait to see how successful BMW and Great Wall Motor are at converting the Ora Good Cat into the new MINI Electric. For the past few years, MINI has been steadily reducing the ability of customers to customize their cars. I wonder how many options buyers will be able to choose from in 2024? If the rumors are true, the 2024 SE will be smaller and have more than just a bit more power (Autocar says 221 HP). If they can keep the weight the same, the 2024 SE will be an amazing car. If it comes to the US, will it cost less than $45K?
