Dealership just called and said the car should arrive next month (December). Although I also found out they screwed up when changing my order. I changed to the RWD Preferred Long Range with 2 tone grey interior but they entered black interior. We'll see how it looks. Vancouver, BC for those wondering.
Did you get an email on or about November 5th telling you your place in line and build and delivery dates?
Yes I did get an email. Got a build date of Nov 2021 and priority #65. I then changed the order to a Long Range RWD without affecting my place in line.
But is it the same LR RWD version? I'm beginning to suspect that the build numbers may be for each trim and perhaps colour. I've seen a pattern that might indicate that's what's happening.
So much for my theory! Maybe it has something to do with Anh's last minute swap? Maybe you could have a coin toss?
Or there's a couple of people at Hyundai who use a dart-board to set build priorities--only forums like this can reveal the meaningless duplicate build-priority numbers. Remember all those X Files posters?
Just got a new note from Hyundai. My Ioniq 5 AWD Ultimate Digital Teal which on November 5th was scheduled to be built in December '21 is now scheduled for January. The note indicates that they knew of this change a month ago. I appreciate the update but a month late takes my appreciation down a few notches. Still, it's more communication than I ever got with my Kona delivery.
Yeah just checked my inbox, and got the same message. Further, my local dealership contacted me to let me know an entry level model has arrived for a test drive.
Same deal for my pre-order ... it was to be built in December with 30 as the priority on the AWD LR w Ultimate package. Now to be built in January, 2022 with priority 27. I don't mind the delay b/c I am snow birding and can't accept delivery until April anyway. My letter states the delay is due to the chip shortage and the ongoing supply chain issues. If Hyundai downgrade the options (I've read this on other forums), the deal is off. It's bad enough, with the lack of rear wiper and 1st model year teething pain (average efficiency, poor winter charging, no battery preheating while driving to a charging station, various software glitches) but any other changes, I'll just hang on to my 2021 Kona EV.
I moved from 198 to 186. Ya, I'm almost certainly not going through with the order but I'm enjoying being a fly on the wall. I'm not giving my dealer any notice until I'm forced to. I read a Canadian review today. A Hyundai rep alluded to a rear wiper being specced for Canadian cars but then deleted at some point. Dumb choice but interesting to hear.
Have a test drive booked in Ottawa for tomorrow. Excited to give it a spin. We are so far down the build list we don’t have a date.
Brings back similar Kona EV pre-order memories from Dec 2018, hope they still send $100 holiday season (appreciation of patience) gift cards
Just got a second email from Hyundai Canada confirming a build date for December 21 (LR RWD). I moved from 286 to…4(!) in the priority lane. I saw some good reviews that were conducted in San Diego recently, but noticed some complaints about the missing rear wiper. I’m a bit anxious about this, but maybe a water repellant treatment would help.
Nope - only a rear wiper/mister works to clear it. Facts from many I5 European owners that have tried all possible solutions.
