Thanks. I might try the manager as the sales person was no help. My sales person seemed less than pressed about getting a sale in before year end. ASK MINI had given me the same answer as they gave you so I already had called the sales person.

There are at least no holds or weird things pop up in the system per the ASK MINI person. The last ship that had a half a chance of making it in by end of year sailed. Next ships are more sparse. Looks like it could easily be end of Jan at the rate they are going.

I wonder if they have prioritized all EU based deliveries until the end of the year due to Brexit. I wouldn’t think that would impact a car already sitting at the port, but it is possible.

Not sure that's it. One car on the spreadsheet came to port after mine and left before mine heading towards the west coast. One poster here had their order in on the same day as I did, going to US as well (east coast too) and will be delivered to their US port in 3 days. Mine sits... I did ask if there was a reason for a holdup and they saw nothing in the notes. Unless they do the stripes there and they just are slow as all get out, but my dealer said they might have to do them too. I'll likely call the manager if it doesn't make a ship next week to push on it. Not sure what they can do. The salesperson said he had no power, but the ASK MINI people made it seem like someone at a dealership could find more info with their contacts. No idea though.

I feel your pain. While my SE was languishing in Southampton for a month, I found this photo on the 'net and annotated it. It depicts one possible explanation why my MINI sat while others manufactured after mine were sailing to America. After the factory reopened in May, the COVID-afflicted shipping companies couldn't keep up. I theorized that as more MINIs arrived on the train from the factory they went through the storage lot's front gates and ended up at the front of the line, then it was Last-In-First-Out (LIFO). I told myself that even if they wanted to ship my MINI, there was no way to get to it until all the late-arriving cars were moved onto vessels.

The pandemic delayed my SE from early April until late August. It was worth the wait, but, like you, I would love to know what the h is going on at Southampton.

Actually this picture is helpful. While it may not be noted as a problem in the sytem, my car did have a request in for bonnet stripes. If you look at the pic all the cars have white on the bonnet - except for a few with stripes. Maybe there was a hold up there. Nothing that would flag a real issue, but a reason why it's delayed compared to others. I'm actually cool with that idea. I'll give it until after a holiday next week before I ask a bit more.

Birthday is early Feb so it would be nice to have it for that :)

We'll write off $300 from our EVSE install this year at least.

These Minis are even older than the gen-2 BMW MINIs in the photo I found! Not many know that the Nash Metropolitan (the cars with the Continental spare tires) was built by Austin Motors in England. I don't see any big ramp, so each of these cars must have been hoisted aboard the cargo ship.

My car is in transit! I think a ship left yesterday but need to look up...

Found out I am on the Hoëgh Traveller. Their site allows for a nice search via VIN. It shows when the car made it to port and when loaded. It actually was loaded 2 days ago and almost to Spain before it heads west. Updated the spreadsheet to reflect corrected dates. I knew my arrived at port was off as the site was down that weekend.

How did you learn that? I'm just looking at MyGarage which has pitifully little information except that mine is "in transit"

If you have your VIN you can call 866-ASK-MINI (866-275-6464). Ask for a customer service representative. When they get on with you live just say you see your Mini is in transit and would love to know what ship it is on. Then you can google the ship to see what carrier it is with. Each company has their own site. You can also track your ship's location on various sites.

Man, I love the enthusiasm in this group! I have been part of many car forums, and have never seen this level of excitement before. I wouldn't have thought to call Ask MINI, but I'll give them a ring when I can and see what I can find out.

I'll be honest after owning my current Mini there is a difference in type of drivers you often get. A Mini owner motors around. We drive cars instead of ride in them. We're a bit quirky here. We wave to each other when driving past. So I think a true Mini lover ks always a bit enthusiastic about their cars and motoring around.

There are a few shipping companies Mini use. Wallenius Wilhelmsen is one of the big ones and K-Line. I actually focused my time looking at those. One WW ship I had hoped to be on seems delayed and wouldn't have gotten my car to US soil in time. So that makes me happy. Mine is on a Hoëgh Autoliner.

Google is a big help once you find your ship name. I see my ship just north of Spain which is where it is headed before going across to Baltimore.

Ha ha I read that one too and kept watch on K-line and WW only to find out it was with Höegh Autoliner (forgive my dyslexic typos above on the name). Like the article my focus was off. Also my car loaded 2 days prior to the update showing which I have read is normal. So calling was the no brainer for me.

I find I like https://www.vesselfinder.com/ for tracking as well as marinetraffic.com. The myshiptracking.com was about 20 hours behind. Now I have something fun to do over the next 2 weeks lol

I found out my car is on the ship “Liberty”, currently off the coast of Spain and headed for Halifax at 8.6kts. I’ve sailed boats faster than that. Slow and steady...

My boat is behind yours heading towards Spain. Last I saw it was going 12.2 so only a hair faster. Slow and steady for sure. I do find this more interesting to track though.

The Liberty was a ship I was tracking and thought I might get on. It would only arrive a couple days earlier with the route vs the one mine is on (no Halifx or NYC stop)

I am not the one to create it, but it seems to me that a "How to track your Mini shipping vessel" would be a helpful thread. I see several different methods being posted, all of which could come in handy to the anxious Mini-er awaiting precious cargo.
