Things I don't like

Well everyone has some good thoughts Sure the Kona has some small faults I think the hold button is my only quirk . Besides that the car is fabulous you just have to get used to the layout of all the buttons.

The adaptive cruise is the best thing since the internet I use it everywhere. Plus the backup side warning is great in Parking lots
Mine kept beeping at me the other day , couldn't see anything in the mirror, so I put in park and got out and sure enough someone with their child in hand was standing in my drivers blind spot waiting for me to back up, Whew! thank you. I spoke with her and she was used to EV's backing out silently from the charge location, so as a precaution she tends to wait until maneuver completed and was surprised that I knew she was there.
Lesson: If in doubt get out and double check

A piddling thing, but hey, that's what this thread is about...
I really dislike the step up right in front of the seats. I like to pull my free leg up on longer drives and that damn little rise stops my heel from pulling close to the seat. It's a shame the floor isn't truly flat throughout.

Only solution is to move the seat forward.

Darn battery :D

"Heavy deceleration"
Brings up a good point.
I havent had the Kona long enough to try yet, but has anyone tried a planned heavy emergency stop, to see how it reacts?

I was driving yesterday and the car in front of me stopped suddenly. The Kona overreacted and kicked in the abs brakes way too hard. I was glad the guy behind me stopped in time. Hyundai needs to address this as it was definitely what I’ll call a near miss.

I agree about most of those things, I would have preferred the white interior I just thought it looked really nice; but, I wasn't going to chance waiting. I didn't get Ultimate and you're making me feel better about that lol. I am surprised the nav is out of date, that would definitely annoy me too.

My issues:

  • How to update the head unit? In my previous car it had wifi and/or you could use USB drive. I assume it has to be able to be updated... but I'm pretty sure the car doesn't have the ability to connect to wifi unless I missed a huge feature.
  • I hate hate hate that I cannot put my phone on the wireless charger, close the door, and use Android auto. I don't want to have to plug in the phone - that totally defeats the purpose of the wireless charger! (this issue goes hand-in-hand with the first bullet item as I'm hoping a future update will permit android auto over wireless but again... my understanding is that wireless Android Auto only works over wi-fi not bluetooth...
  • Bird s---. I am absolutely sure that more birds have dumped on this car in 6 weeks than all the other cars I have owned in 30 years, combined. Really. That cannot be coincidence. (car is in the garage 98% of the time so it's not like I'm parking under a tree that has a new nest or anything). Anyway... probably can't blame Hyundai for this but that doesn't mean I wouldn't try to (in my head, at least). I literally cleaned birdstuff off my car in FOUR different places last night after driving like... 20 miles. In other news, I'm starting to hate birds.
  • I don't like the audio buttons being on the left, I want those on the right and the other controls (for like changing the dash options) on the left. Maybe it's b/c my last car was this way? I dunno. I just know in 6 weeks I'm still trying to change the station and volume on the right.
Regarding point#3, there is a solution:

You can adjust the collision warning in three steps. Early, medium and late. I set mine to medium instead of early. Once in a while I feel like it's still a little bit to early but so far it's been better for me.

- I've come across the hump in front of the front seats as well. I'm 6'4 so the seats have to be all the way back for me to be comfortable. Driving on the highway with ACC on and moving your feet I got it a few times as well.
- the map updates should be easier and more current. Right now they are useless. I think, why not let people update them whenever they want. If I feel like updating then once a week, why not? It's my own time! And it doesn't really matter how many times I update within my 3 free years, does it?
- the nag screen is terrible!

What they're saying is that THEY are only going to update the maps that often.

Well, I'm pretty sure to maintain a map they work on it every day and not just twice a year. At least internally. Why not publish the changes more often and make it more valuable that way?

Ooh wait, that is entrepreneurial thinking which doesn't apply to legacy automakers. [emoji1787][emoji6][emoji12]

It's been a bit dull around here lately so let's have a good whinefest. What stands between your beloved Kona and perfection? Not so much missing features as things that could have been better implemented or that are just not to your taste.
  • I don't like the black-on-black interior that comes with the dark leather. With the privacy glass in the rear it feels like you've got Dracula's coffin back there.
  • I don't like pressing buttons in the x-axis to move in the y-axis. Why don't D and R point fore and aft?
  • I don't like the row of buttons behind the steering wheel on the left. They're hard to see, one of them is actually two, and they have an odd assortment of functions.
  • I don't hate the nav system and I do use it because I don't have a data plan on my phone to use Google Maps, but I don't like that the map is badly out of date, particularly the charge station data, making a selling feature of the car essentially useless.
  • I'm surprisingly grateful for the many warning features, but I don't like it when the car natters at me about my seat belt the minute it's turned on.
Those things off my chest, there are way more things that I like about the car and after three months or so I'm still jumping into it at random times to go for a drive. :)
Good complaints, Skookum Pete! I would like to add another one: The foot rest for the left foot is too small for big-footed North Americans and Europeans. It should be at least an inch wider. And we six-footers also need a gentler angle to the foot rest to make it effective and comfortable, especially during high-performance driving. But all in all, Hyundai has crafted a fine automobile.

Always wanted to meet Bigfoot.

I hadn't noticed the footrest width but do note that the steering wheel barely telescopes far enough out so that I can position the seat to be allow a comfortable leg extension. It's right on the margin and I'm only 178cm (5'-10").

Yes, seat/wheel ergonomics are sub-standard and are apparently the result of short-sighted cost-cutting.
