immediately before sitting in the car with the A.C. running, I had charged the battery to around 85%.
I undid the charger, drive for about a mile, put the car in park, and sat with the A.C. running on its coldest setting.
Outside it was about 80F.
Maybe the car needed internal cooling, so the ice turned on in order to power the internal water cooling system.
In motion, perhaps this is not necessary as the motors would have air rushing in to cool everything. Perhaps in park, the ice is needed to power the cooling system.
It was not a very hot day, but I did go from empty to 85% full on the battery and then I ran the a.c. while in park.
