That makes sense. It would explain why the pictures look different too.I think the website includes stock for all Heitage/MileOne Honda dealers in the Baltimore area. When I was at the dealer on Saturday, I don’t think they had more than 10 touring models in stock. Still decent inventory for a small town, but not the 50 that are listed on the website.
Agreed. For me, the difference in features was nowhere close to the increased price.3:1 touring to base ratio in the Northeast on lots. Not surprised they’re selling faster (assuming Honda’s building an equal amount)
I'd expect a dealer to handle sales tax for cars sold in the dealer's state, but would not expect them to be savvy about the tax laws of other states. How much cheaper than a local dealer will the price have to be to make it worth the enormous hassle of purchasing a car by mail and shipping it to you? Or is it a model/color requirement that your local dealer cannot satisfy?Trying to find a touring from outside SoCal and have a some questions:
1. Is it normal for the dealer not wanting to take care of the sales tax and saying that's my responsibilty or could that be a shady dealer?
2. Has anyone purchased a New vehicle from out of state and can give some advice?
3. Any particular signs that the dealer might be shady.....I wouldn't be signing anything unless the paperwork was in order, which would be dealt with by mail as I do not plan to fly out to pick up.

"Sales tax goes by where you register the car unless you are registering out of state, then it depends on the reciprocal arrangement if any, between the two states.
For example, if you buy in CA and drive out of state, you pay sales tax based on the dealer zip code but if you ship it out via truck then you pay sales tax where you register the car."
2) I purchased from SoCal and drove it out of state. Message me directly with any questions.
3) Just make sure the model/color is accurate and the final numbers all match up to the quote.
Which state are you located/registering the car in ?
Thank you for the responses to the Out of State questions..............this would only make a difference if the price difference is significant enough.
SoCaL dealers not really discounting the Clarity much at all, whereas up to $6k off from out of state.
Will keep an eye on prices towards end of the year.
So if I find a dealer willing to give close to $6k off msrp in one of those states and knows I will register the vehicle out of state in California.The 6K off is only possible (at least as of now) if you buy AND register in one of the ZEV states like MA,CT etc.

I would make sure they really know about the out of state registration to avoid last minute hassles.
Prior posts here indicate that when it is time to sign the papers, those dealers suddenly have a
"memory recall" about the in state registration requirements![]()
Agreed.
And being dog lovers, the real leather and faux "suede" were seen as negatives - easier to damage and harder to maintain.
Power seats would have been nice. But the navigation system seemed superfluous since we'd mainly be using Waze via CarPlay.
Am I forgetting any other differences?
