Will these wheels fit?

I performed the seasonal wheel & tire swap today, so took a couple pictures of the inner sidewall clearance to the strut tower to sanity check my earlier response. Here is a 195/55 R16 Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 on 16"x6.5" Electric Revolite wheels:

While the sidewalls bow out a bit, there appears to be a reasonable amount of clearance for slightly wider tires without rubbing.
Meanwhile, here is a 205/45 R17 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 on 17"x7" Roulette Spoke wheels:

The Michelins provide a thicker rim protection than other tires, which reduces the clearance to the strut. I could have sworn it was much closer than that when I originally fitted them, but I still prefer a bit more clearance.

My tyre clearance feeler gauges are more commonly known as 'Allen keys'. I have run tyres with as little as 4mm of clearance, with no sign of rubbing. My stock 16" Hankooks measured as 204mm wide. Tirerack has sidewall width specs for everything that they sell. Putting tyres on a different width rim will change things.

As I already purchase Nokian WRG-5 Remedy 205/55/16 Simple tire .com as in N.Y. I don’t need winter tires I would say those are all weather tires as not everybody now they aren’t as all season tires is a big difference .As I mount them soon I put a picture about all clearance in few days .205 size is only a difference from factory .Driving Subaru on WRG-4 Nokian previous version they are the best tires in my opinion.driving in North East . As your pictures are on 195/55 /16 and 205/45/17 I’m going to show 205/55/16 which Is different what you show and hopefully works without touching a struts or using a spacers .Nokian is only available in 205/55/16 for 16” rims as close to factory

As I’m looking all over on internet / forums as 205/45/17 on 7” rims is ok for SE as factory OM .and 195/55/16 on 6 1/2 “ as factory OM .what happens as I’m installing 205/55/16 on 6 1/2 “ car rims come with 6 1/2 “ rims /spacer required or I’m OK? Without .Guys help me out as some members here are pretty advanced with tires fitment as my choice of Nokian 205/55/16 Remedy is only size close to factory O M size available and tire required to be install on 6 1/2” rim printed on tire .I appreciate all knowable answers!

@Rexsio - I recommend getting a set of 10mm spacers (or thicker) to be certain. The stock wheels are inset enough that the inner sides of the stock tires are very close to the strut. Any aftermarket tire that is wider may rub. I have run some aftermarket tires on both 16" and 17" stock wheels on my SE, and even though they were the same size as OEM, they had a thicker rim protection bead that made them sit much closer to the strut than I was comfortable with.

As I’m respecting your best answer from all forum to my issue as I install my 205/55/16 instead factory 195/55/16 just 1 tire I find out just simply put a cardboard between struts and tire was so close I don’t think is reasonable to drive a car with this tire size as you suggested 10 mm spacer can do it as I ordered 10 mm spacers today bc I like tires Nokian WRG-5 Remedy for all weather driving in not very harsh climates as that tire 205/55/16 is only a tire size all weather by Nokian I can use it on SE as I’m using a tires Nokians WRG-4 on my Subaru with great performance in North East NY .I 4 days I respond how my tires are doing with 10 mm spacers .ECS Tuning I pay $247.90 for spacers&wheel bolt kit for SE included extended wheel bolts with conical seat a picture showing factory OEM 195/55/16 as is so close to struts in my estimate of 3/8 “ or less

I’m going to CT this Sunday as I’m there every week for 1/2 year I’m going to have good estimate on 140 miles trip both ways how Nokian is doing against Hankooks as I have 20 mm wider truck and wider tires 0.39” from 195/55/16 as I notice Nokians are softer than Hankooks is still experiment as I need a tires for cold weather and maybe snow as I don’t care about range

A70 miles trip on New WRG-5 Remedy tires with speed 65-70 M/hr and 70’F weather I lost about 10 miles in range comparing to Hankooks but in much slower speed and heavy Sunday night traffic a 70 miles trip back a range improved about 5 miles .Overall I believe with spacers wider track and wider tires a range shouldn’t safer specifically with slower winter/fall speeds as handling improved comparing to Hankooks only summer tires.Also once I check a pressure on tires my installer put 35psi on 4 of them as I prefer be 37/34 to a sticker on car 35/32. Psi which I’m going to correct and no noise as they design low rolling resistance surprisingly !
