Has anyone put a panoramic mirror on their SE? If so, which brand fit?

The stock mirror has poor blind spot visibility.

I've thought about buying a used BMW mirror with a garage door opener so many times because my Signature model doesn't have a door opener and the BMW mirror is wider. The mount looks the same.

I added a Homelink mirror to my EVO X and it was pretty easy.

Good question. I don’t have any intel on a panoramic mirror, but for about 30 years I’ve been adjusting my side mirrors as directed in this video and as a result I’ve never had any problem with blind spots — even in the various convertibles I’ve owned, some of which had NO rear side windows, just a huge section of cloth top where rear side windows would be.

It takes a little time to get used to it, but once you do you’ll never want to set them any other way.

(And personally, the 360-degree view I enjoy out of my MINI might be the best I’ve had compared to any of my previous cars, but I still depend on and swear by the side-mirror adjustment tips outlined in that video I linked to.)

Good luck!

that video is helpful!

Really in such a small car? Once I adjusted the side mirrors so I can see a car go from rearview mirror to side mirror I practically eliminated blind spots. The key is to push them out far enough so you no longer see the sides of your car.

Update: Here's an illustration of how to adjust:

Also, I'm not discouraging a panoramic mirror by any means. More safety is always better.

Agreed with the side mirror adjustment. I've done this for many years in cars without blind-spot management, and once you get used to it you'll never need BS again! Especially with this tiny frame with great vis...

I try to be openminded, so I will definitely try out the wide angle mirror adjustment settings. I have really wished the SE had the blind spot detection that the wife has in her Prius Prime.

Thanks for posting the associated graphics, which are quite persuasive.

Another option - If you are in US you can get the OEM euro style mirrors. They’re aspheric on both sides rather than planar+convex giving you a much wider view out the sides. Those adjusted nicely and a shoulder check have been adequate.

If was going to replace the rear view mirror I’d go video, GENTEX makes one with Homelink. You can load up the cabin and still see out the back.
