Low speed sound deletion.

Anyone know if there is a way to disable the low speed sound coming from the clarity. I installed a subwoofer and it is distorting the sound everytime it plays....... ‍♂️ Help

I don't know if it is controlled by a fuse. I don't think anyone has been able to figure this out yet.
 
There is a button to turn off the sound, but in Canadian models only (owner's manual, page 393)
 
Yes I saw that but there has to be a way in the US. No one has really looked into it. It comes in thru the car speakers. I do not believe there is an external speaker. It might be a fuse but the abbreviations on the fuse manual ( I'm not sure which one it's connected to and also what all the abbreviations mean). I'm gonna keep trying. Help would be Great!!!!!!!!

Absolutely right. With windows rolled up I can’t hear it.

Has anybody found the speaker?

I’ve looked everywhere I can without taking any trim off and I can’t find it. I would guess it’s in front of the engine and firing to front or downwards.

I agree except I did wonder after the original post if the active noise cancellation might be feeding back in an unusual manner after the addition of a subwoofer.

I haven't read up on the ANC enough to know if that is possible or not.

9BA92BA1-7E76-4FE6-BF55-9C68BEBE4B41.webp The manual calls it the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System. So I looked at the two fuse compartments on passenger side of engine bay and the diagram on the driver’s left foot kick panel and was hoping to find something like AVAS but no luck.
On the plus side I did find that we have several empty fuse plugs under the dash for things like dash cams (mine’s on the way). Will have to get out the VOM to find one slaved to the ignition.

I was reading a bit about the active noise cancellation in the Accords and it specifically mentions that it uses the subwoofer and shows a lot of activity around 100 Hz (10 dB in fact). Since this noise cancellation would seem to be most pronounced at low speeds just like the alert tones could it be that this is the problem?

In the Accord there are some key combinations that turn off ANC - maybe some will work for the Clarity.

Yes that is the answer. It was on a forum a while ago but great work. That will help a lotta people.
U disconnect by the dome lights and in the back seat center roof.
I'll post the sound system specs soon. Once again thanks u and everyone that chimed in.

I thought that was in place to protect an unsuspecting pedestrian from being run over by our super quiet rides - isn't that more important than some sound distortion at low speeds?

See my and Lucien's messages above - the distortion was not being caused by the alert system but rather by the ANC. Since both are active at low speeds he was fooled at first as to what was causing the issue. The ANC is particularly active at low frequencies so changing/adding a subwoofer changed the system to make it additive/distorted rather than subtractive - not what you want with noise cancellation.

There is a fuse box behind the charge door open button too. It is hidden so you will need to pull out the panel. That is a even a empty connector that you can use to get power. That is what Honda instruction said to use for adding ambient lighting.

Does it have a fuse labeled B5 that was in the tech doc post about the AVAS?
 
First post here, don't you guys think it is unethical? You put people walking in parking lot unaware of your moving car. It is ILLEGAL as well!
 
I was never sold on the idea of needing a sound to alert pedestrians of your car. The Clarity doesn't float above the ground. I would argue that driving at low speeds the Clarity makes as much noise as any other newer car. A regular hybrid doesn't make any engine noise at low speeds, either, but they don't have any exterior sound. If you run into anything as big as a car while walking I would say you need to pay more attention anyway.

If you are blind it does not really matter how big the car is.
