XM Radio in the Clarity

I understand there is no XM Radio in the Base trim and there is XM in the Touring trim.

My cheapo Elentra has XM Radio but it is only 3 months free and then I have to pay for a subscription and I never got it as I am cheap.

When I first look into the Clarity, I thought XM is free for life in the Touring trim but from some of the post/thread that I read, it seems that's not the case. You still need subscription after a certain free trail period? So this 'feature' that you pay extra for in Touring, you have to continuously feeding money into it?
 
XM is in the base for 3 months, they then make a pretty good offer for additional time -I think it was a year for around $50.

I don't have a Touring but I never saw anything about free for life XM when researching the differences.

I THINK navigation updates are free in the Touring but someone else needs to weigh in on that.

Sorry, I am just trying to figure out the difference for XM radio between the base and touring as XM radio is one of the 'feature' of the Touring trim and it's not listed in the Base trim

Humm, US must be different from Canadian as in my Canadian Specification, Base does not have XM. You can see it in the Specification pdf I uploaded, it's in the 2nd page near the bottom Entertainment. That's why I am confused.

Can any Canadian owner of both Base and Touring chimed it?

Another thing to be aware of if Sirius XM is important to you - the Hondas currently have a but where if you use the remote climate control to preheat or precool your car then you'll have to reboot the radio before Sirius XM will work. This bug is not just in the Clarity - we have the same problem in my wife's CR-V. The problem has been around for at least a year, Honda is aware of it, and it hasn't been fixed yet.

For many people this isn't a big deal. For some it might be a deal breaker. For me it's a major annoyance, but I've learned to live with it.
 
...or if you have Sirius XM in your phone (as I do), Android Auto will "see" it and has remarkably good browsing on the head unit while connected!
 
I've owned quite a few cars over the years, and irrespective of how pricey the car is, you have to pay for Sirius XM after a trial period which is typically 3 months. Its not super expensive provided you are ready to call them to cancel and play the game so they eventually give you a good deal.
