Why is my mini range so low?

Huh. How bout dat. I just plugged in the route from home to my stateside post office box, and while before calculating the route, it tells me “95.6 km, out of range,” when I calculate it, it tells me that I would use about 41%. That lines up very well with my first trip there in the SE a couple of weeks ago, leaving home full and arriving at the post office with 58%.

And I told my wife when I ordered the car that I wouldn’t be messing around and modifying and “improving” this one, yeah right! ;)

Unfortunately this does not work here in NZ, the MINI app cannot even locate the chargers in my city.

So, yup, the MINI app has regional versions.
 
ABRP is pretty poor in my experience, at least for the Mini.
It’s very pessimistic even when I stick exactly to the speed limit etc but if I override the default wh/mile value to say 200 it gets much closer to the point it’s actually useful.
However when using it as a navigation tool using an OBDII dongle and the mi3 software it is *so* bad through excessive lag I wanted to strangle the developers. For example it wouldn’t tell me to take an exit until I was several seconds past it, the icon to represent the car disappears so you had no idea where on the route you actually were. It would not start working again until I force quit it and sometimes the mi3 app also. Quite literally the worst iPhone app I’ve ever used by a long margin.

Agree that ABRP's value depends on accurate consumption values, and its default values are quite pessimistic.

An update earlier this year allows ABRP to talk directly to your SE's OBDII adapter, which makes for a MUCH better experience. I have been running ABRP with direct connection to my OBDII adapter for several months now, and it has learned my real-world consumption values. That said, it certainly isn't a flawless navigation solution, so it's always a good idea to sanity-check its recommended routes.
 
Bc I’m driving recently 40 miles for few weeks each way slow traffic crawling and fast I’m not seeing much difference i get home with 50 miles range every time using Sport mode all the time and I don’t understand some people get 88 miles I drive 5 -10 miles on city streets for 5 months a day I always get 100-120 miles just drive a SE that car 114 miles estimate is wrong and we are HAPPY about .
 
Guys my range is also reading a bit low. Fortunately it does seem to be improving the more I drive it. It started off REALLY low.

Yep ours just now after 2 months of driving is finally sometimes maybe showing 100+ miles of range at 100% battery charge level.
 
The GOM on my SE never shows above about 115 miles on a full charge, but I get way above that. In fact, just this week I got over 170 miles range for the first time!

Even though commute, usage and weather remained pretty much same, GOM’s guesstimates were inconsistent, no surprise there :)
 
Wow! The max I have ever seen is 190km (118mi). I regularly charge north of 200km for the current charge, and upon plugging in the charger, it claims the new max is 155km. In my opinion, that is the most idiotic thing about the system. The simplest estimate is what you have just achieved. You don't even need to worry about the current battery state. If you traveled 200km since the last charge, you can probably do that again. It is a better start than whatever random number generator they currently use ;) Or, I don't know, go by the lifetime average consumption figure. I've found that to be quite accurate. Over 2 years, my average is 12.4kWh/100km or 5mi/kWh (range almost exactly the WLTP 233km). Now on days when I am around town, I get over that, and freeway days driving up the coast at 110kph, I get under. I would be happy for it to say my range was 233 and round up/down as appropriate. I have found the best way is to take the estimate and divide by 0.7 (multiply by 1.4) - if you want to do it in your head multiply by 2 twice, divide by 10 and add it to the original estimate. For example: GOM reads 100km, double = 200, double = 400, divide by 10 = 40 so total range = 100 + 40 = 140.
