Why a Kona is better than a Tesla M3

I have a 2014 BMW i3-REx and 2019 Model 3 so I can confidently post from personal, recent, hands-on experience. So I report on what I have experience.

I will cite EPA metrics because they are serious, trustable engineers. But ad hoc or not head-to-head, hands on, I have no interest.

Edmunds used to do ‘smack down’ tests with 3-4 vehicles on an identical, three day test. Just I can’t use single vehicle, single reviewer reports as they lack engineering metric and methods.

You would think HUD would be natural option to have when no gauges in front of you. If I remember correctly the Prius Prime also has instrumentian in the center as well but HUD available.
HUDs not required in the TM3.

Drive one for three years and you'll agree.

I haven't seen much yet about the MX30. Not bad looking though. But I see it has a pretty small battery at only 35.5 kWh, so pretty limited range. But should be OK around town. Might be appealing if it is not that expensive.

Unfortunately the MX-30 is expensive. In NZ it's $3,000 more and has half the range of the cheaper Tesla Model 3.

Facts and data are sharing observations. Do you have any facts and data to share?

Here's a fact, value is subjective. There is no way to objectively determine if the decision to buy a model 3 is better than a kona or vice versa because nobody has the same criteria for determining value. So the argument is essentially moot.

In one respect, you are correct. For example, if a unique paint is a make-break requirement, I won’t contest it. My criteria is different than the sheet metal color.

I am operational efficiency driven. The more efficient (ie, lowest cost per mile) will always win with me.

Now there is more options available from VW, Ford, Audi, Mini etc / they are all better choices than Hyundai/Kia. Even when there was only ICE vehicles Hyundai/Kia was mainly sold for offering more standard equipment/lower price than others .
