Where do you put your keys while driving?

I just got my clarity, and I guess this seems like a stupid question. I have various crap on my keychain for opening the garage at home, the garage at work. I set the keys on the little hidden shelf under the control panel but they slide around and with such a quiet ride it got irritating quick.

I want them to be easy access so don't want to fumble into the storage when I come to the garage at work in the morning. The cup holder was another option but it's not all that convenient and sometimes there's cups in there!

I am thinking maybe getting some sort of non slip pad for that shelf under the console, but thought I'd check here to see if there's a simple idea I haven't thought of.

There are a number of things you can buy for under the shelf - or you can do like I did and take the old mouse pad that you never use, cut it to shape, flip it over and lay it in the tray.

I keep my key in my pocket since I currently don't have anything on it.

I'm sure you've thought of this, but can you program the Clarity's Homelink to open those garage doors? If you could have only the key fob in your pocket, that might be the best place for it?

No I haven't thought of it, definitely worth a try! My 2010 Odyssey never was able to work with my home garage, maybe this one will.

Homelink on the older Odyssey's couldn't work with some newer model garage door openers that use a rolling coding security thing. The new Clarity should work for you, assuming that was your problem. Mine is working fine with it, in fact I just unplugged my old garage door opener HomeLink repeater, that I had needed for the old Odyssey.
 
My left front pants pocket, because my phone goes in my right front pants pocket, because I recently had a pacemaker installed, and I can no longer put the phone in my shirt pocket. It's all logical. I really miss being able to slip the phone into that shirt pocket, though.
 
Go with the upside down mouse pad idea (pure genius BTW) as the OEM pad is not very much more non-slip than the plain shelf. Or some other non-slip you can cut to fit like a camping drawer liner.

Ive gone keyless: key fob in pocket, HomeLink button for garage door, August Smartlock on house door (auto locks/unlocks by BT app on phone), and retired so no work key. I keep a spare set in the glove box but haven’t seen or used them in 4 months. Best part is there’s nothing to lose or missplace and no wear on the pants.

See https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/clarity-accessories.2331/#post-19405 for a nifty little plastic cover for the key fob. I bought one because I read that the blue backside of the key fob scratches easily. The key fob would be less prone to slide with this "jacket" on.

I park in a garage with valet parking. This being my first electronic key, it was a challenge remembering to leave the key in the car at the garage and remembering to take it when I'm away from the garage. I was thinking of putting a hook with double-sided tape.

On a different note, I put the fob in the e-z pass anti-read bag and it still detects it. I was going to try aluminum foil next. I heard stories about thieves stealing cars by amplifying the signal where the fob is in the house and the car is nearby.

On another note, the fob is very expensive to replace. The cost to replace includes programming the fob. I heard it could be $500.

Yes, the fob is spendy. The MSRP of the fob is $500, plus "installation". You can order them from on-line Honda dealers for $335. Whew! Honda knows they are proprietary items and can't be had at your local Autozone parts store.
 
I always have the keys in my pocket. Just to keep the bulk of keys to a minimum I separated my Clarity key set from my 4Runner key set.

Door handle. We have two identical key fobs and they fit perfect there without overhang or rattling.
