What's some good source to learn more about EVs in general?

Like the title says, I’m feeling kind of lost with all the info out there. Where do you go to learn more about EVs? I’m new to electric vehicles, so any tips or suggestions would be awesome!

Out of Spec channels on YouTube have a lot of information. Kyle makes in-depth videos on specific vehicles and also the industry. His videos are on the long side though.

Most of the these cars have individual web forums for their electric cars. I would go there to read up on their vehicles too.

Just keep in mind many folks go to these forums for help with an issue with their car. So they can give you a slanted view of the reliability of the vehicle.

An excellent source of educational information.

My primary source are the YouTube videos by Munro Associates. They take EVs apart and their videos to a great job of explaining the good and bad aspects.

For good enough operator videos, I use "The Fast Lane EV" YouTube. They cover the operator experience in a way that I find fair and credible. They tend to buy and work the hell out of them for a year.

A little wordy, Edmunds does a reasonable job with their YouTube videos. I recommend playing them at 1.25x speed.

Beware of "Press Car" reviewers. They are under implicit pressure to be biased for the car. Natural because they want to get more press cars to review. Also, some of the press cars seem to be 'better than average.'

FYI, I despise Consumer Reports based on their earliest 2001 Prius and subsequent reviews. They have a much higher opinion of their reviews than my "lying eyes" found with: 2003 Prius, 2010 Prius, 2017 Prius Prime, and Tesla Model 3. In 2012, stopped subscription and only sample their 'Annual' issues. I spot check their reviews an not long need to buy them.

As you can see, we're eager to answer any questions you may have.

If you hurry, there are still a few new MINI Cooper SEs left in the showrooms. I love mine--it's the most fun EV you can buy. And with the smallest range of any EV you can buy, it will quickly educate you about using apps to find charging stations.

I wouldn't buy a new one.

Buy a used one with low miles, ship it to you and save yourself the hit on depreciation if you want a Mini.

Those press car reviewers are not legit? Can you name few of those to watch out? (I understand if it's not applicable tho)

Oh no I've already have the range anxiety ... wouldn't do that just to learn ...

They are less bad than several years ago but things to watch out for:
  • Testing duration measured in a week or too.
  • Testing at a manufacturer facility with their "safety" driver.
  • Owns an ICE car.
  • Does not own an EV.
My fecies-list:
  • Consumer Reports - they test to an initial set of ICE car requirements and never update after the first review. They never learn how to live with the car.
  • Any car seller - they like to do "demo" without real life, lessons learned.
  • Most car magazines - variable quality tests but once done, they don't learn how to live with the car.
