Website assistance - but not this one

I'm hoping there are members on this forum who are also members of the Ioniq Forum (www.ioniqforum.com).

A few days ago I had to clear all my cache and cookies to regain control access to my router. This then requires me to log back in to sites that normally stay logged on. I am no longer able to log on to Ioniqforum.com.....in fact, I can't even select Login.

It appears to be hanging up when attempting to use fonts.gstatic.com. In Firefox, it gives status information at the bottom of the page, and in this case it gets to "reading fonts.gstatic.com" and hangs up. Then I get a message that says "This page is slowing down firefox. To speed up your browser, stop this page".

This problem occurs with both Firefox and Safari, on both my Intel iMac desktop and my Apple M2 Macbook, both running MacOS 15.7.4.

If anyone is a member on Ioniqforum.com, please forward this message to the administrators of that website. My user ID on that website is the same as this - BarticusKastorianus. Thanks.

I don't think the admins there will be able to help you in this case.

It sounds like you have some firewall issues of some sort hitting the fonts subdomain. Did you change any access controls at the router?

what happens if you ping that domain from the command line? does it resolve?

Does it work on your phone NOT on your home wifi?

I didn't change anything on the router, and I can ping that domain from the command line. However, it does work on my phone through cellular. That got me to thinking (I do that slowly at my age).

I paused NordVPN on the iMac, and it worked. (Not the first time I've had websites block me when NordVPN is connected.) However, it works on the phone WITH NordVPN connected. Both use the same dedicated IP and server; however, the iMac uses NordLinx and the phone uses OpenVPN.

Now that I'm logged back on, it will stay that way and work fine, so it's not worth pursuing with NordVPN.

Thanks for turning on the light bulb for me.

Yeah, sometimes these vpn's are over-zealous or the cross-region stuff gets funky. glad you got it resolved.

Now, stay here :D
