You can also select “Upload a file” and you can then select from your camera roll.

I'm the laziest. I open the image file in Photoshop, size it to 400-600 pixels wide, copy it and then paste it directly into my post.

I just double-clicked on a photo file, and it opened in MS Photos. Then I selected Copy from the 3-bar menu at the top right, came back to this post, positioned the cursor below my text, right-clicked and selected Paste. There must be other apps that can do this, too. (This photo of a hard-cornering SE came from Serbia, BTW.)
