Trip to Washington DC

I want to travel from Montreal, QC, Canada to Washington D.C in about 2 weeks

I can use abetterrouteplanner to plan for the best way to get there while charging along the way but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for motels or hotels in the vicinity (Arlington ?) that offer charging stations services.

Both because trying to drive anywhere within the beltway can be a nightmare.

BTW, I use PlugShare to survey an area for hotels/motels with charging stations or options. Always call first and check the comments.

I second everything Bob said in both posts. DC is a terrible city to drive around, but wonderful to walk around, so the sooner you stash your car the better.

Good news - both Maryland I-95 rest areas have fast chargers if you are coming the direct route, so you can top up around 50 miles out of DC.

If you are coming from Canada, why would you drive around to the far side of the city? Montgomery County, on the north and northwest of DC, has the demographics where I expect you'll find lots of chargers.

Simply because I didn't know any better. :)
I am totally fine with going to Montgomery County if it is a better spot.
 
Our last trip to the DC area, we stayed around the Silver Springs Metro area. A very nice, walk-around neighborhood with good restaurants and shops.

DC area has history with popup rain showers in the early evening. Small, folding umbrella and/or wide brim hat ... not cowboy or baseball style ... recommended. Alternatively, a 'disposable' folded poncho. Alternatively, a nice bar stool.

I won't tell you what choices to make. If you prefer a hotel in town, or in a particular neighborhood, do what you like. I second Bob's advice that Silver Spring or Bethesda areas are nice towns within the metro, and have areas to charge.
 
Thanks Walt. I don't have any preference. My days will be spent in Washington. I was just looking for a place to stay outside of Washington (because it would be cheaper) that offers a charging station along with the room and is hopefully close to a subway station since I'll be taking the subway to commute to Washington itself.
