To ANC or not to ANC, that is the question…

I have noticed that occasionally. It "seems" to be tied to the state of charge on the 12 volt battery more than anything else (varies a bit with speed but there are a lot of reasons that could also be coupled). Generally those are the result of bad ground connections. Often just re-seating the connectors is enough to make them go away (amp side or the grounding bundle that is behind it). On the Clarity there are several grounding post bundles (one on each side footwell, and another behind the receiver/amp). The are easy to identify as they are a mass of small black wires all tied to brass terminal ring lugs on a protruding bolt. Sometimes you may find it loose... I will say that it is very unlikely that your dealer would be able to diagnose this unless they ride with you and hear it, which means get a younger tech so hearing loss isn't an issue. Often they will just replace some audio components as the DC filtering in all the inverters is beyond the scope of any dealer shop (and me) and likely they are not excited to be the first to replace a traction inverter for radio noise....

What I meant about the 12 volt battery (at least in my case) is that the noise seems to be more pronounced if I have been sitting listening to the radio while in accessory mode (draining the 12volt battery) then turn the car on to drive. Like, while waiting for my kids in the school carpool line.........

Thanks Cash for the detailed instructions for HondaHack & DSPFlat & Viper4Android install. I followed those instructions (using your provided files) this morning and everything worked great.

I had my factory speakers upgraded recently and wasn't quite satisfied with the results. DSPFlat & Viper4Android are definitely improving things further; I now have many settings to play around with. So far I've used "Field Surround" which seems to improve a stereo imaging weirdness I've previously felt, and played around with Viper's more fine grained equalizer.

Also enjoying some other fun little features that HondaHack provides: Custom startup video, steering wheel button shortcut to toggle rear view camera, voice warnings when seat belt isn't buckled in (separate warning for passenger), car battery voltage readout, turn down volume when reversing car. Well worth the $25.
